Crafts from ribbons using the kanzashi technique. We make beautiful crafts from satin ribbons. Kanzashi headband master class

It is possible to choose a needlework technique that will be interesting and suitable for a particular craftswoman only through trial and error. From this point of view, oriental technique Kanzashi, like no other, deserves to try her hand at least once.

History of kanzashi

In Japan, where this art came from, the term “kanzashi” (according to a more accurate transcription - “kanzashi”) refers to flower hair ornaments. Hairpins, combs, headbands, rubber bands, decorated with ribbon flowers, were usually worn with kimonos.

In Japanese kanzashi, precious and semi-precious materials, natural bone, and tortoise shell are often used. This was natural, since Japanese women did not wear any jewelry on their bodies. The richer they wanted to decorate their hair.

Types of kanzashi

  • In Russia, needlewomen have most taken root Khana Kanzashi - these are kanzashi hair ornaments created on the basis of hairpins, hairpins, headbands, combs and sticks. The base is decorated with flowers from folded squares of various fabrics (satin, silk, organza). The second name for this type of kanzashi is Tsumami, from the Japanese word for "fold". One piece of fabric goes to one petal. At the base, each petal joins its friend to end up with a whole flower or flower arrangement. The size of the flowers may vary, as well as the color, shape, material.
  • Subspecies of Tsumami - Sidare. These are decorations from which flowers hang on long threads or chains.

    Sometimes a round kanzashi is formed from the flowers - it is called Kusudama.

The following varieties of kanzashi are less popular with us as a type of needlework, but they are found on sale, and the following varieties of kanzashi are also produced in large quantities in Japan:

    Combs - Kushi. Rounded scallops used to be made from tortoise shell or bone, but today the base is increasingly made of plastic. Flowers are either attached to the wide part of the comb, or a floral ornament is applied.

    Hairpin - Kanoko Dome. It practically belongs to precious jewelry, since the base is made of precious metals, jade or coral, and the ornament is made of pearls, semi-precious stones. In fact, this is a forked hairpin, which is good for pinning hair gathered in a bun. The decoration is usually presented in the form of a butterfly or a flower.

    Wooden kanzashi - Hira Uchi. It can be a comb, and a forked hairpin, and a thin long “needle”.

    Tama - round kanzashi. They do not consist of flowers, but of a solid circle made of plastic, metal, stone.

    Bira - differ from other types in that long chains are attached to the base, hanging from a hairpin or hairpin in a cascade. It looks very nice on the hair.

In Japan, only specially trained people take on the manufacture of such jewelry, who need to know exactly what, how and from what material can be made and what cannot. Kanzashi is considered the national pride and treasure of the country.

In Russia, kanzashi is simply one of the interesting techniques creating jewelry and decor. Therefore, we have not only hair ornaments, but also kanzashi boxes, kanzashi headbands, kanzashi egg and even garters for curtains made using this technique.

Kanzashi technique

Squares of fabric (the easiest way is to use satin or other ribbon cut into square pieces, since squares are not sold separately in stores) are folded in half with tweezers to make a triangle. It is folded twice more. To get a sharp kanzashi petal, the resulting triangle is cut from the bottom. It is more difficult to get a round kanzashi petal - for this, the same square of fabric is folded in half, and the corners of the resulting triangle are raised up. This is how a rhombus is formed. It is bent in half, then bent in the middle, wrapping all the edges inward. After that, a circle is formed.

It is best to watch the video of a master class on the kanzashi technique in order to see with your own eyes how to do it correctly.

Materials and tools for kanzashi

First of all, these are pieces of fabric: satin, satin, silk, organza. Accessories for kanzashi also include:

Tweezers. Without it, few people succeed in folding a tiny square, and even more than once. It is not necessary to buy any special tweezers. You can use any one you feel comfortable working with.

Sharply sharpened scissors for working with fabrics. It is better to have two types of scissors on hand - one large tailor, so that you can easily cut the tape into squares evenly, others with thin, short blades to trim the fabric and correct flaws.

Matches. A lighter is also suitable - they are needed to burn the edge of the tape in time and prevent it from turning into a fluffy fringe.

Adhesive for fabric. Someone prefers to use a thermal gun, which fastens the petals together. It's a matter of taste and convenience.

Kanzashi patterns. Without them, you will be able to create only the most simple decorations. Anything more complex requires the use of a template. True, very experienced craftsmen with rich imagination claim that they can do without them.

Middles for kanzashi. These are various accessories that will act as the centerpiece of your flower. For example, pebbles, brooches, figurines, etc.

Needle and thread. It is not always convenient to fasten the product with glue. Sometimes it's better to use a good old needle.

Other accessories. Nobody says that the decoration should consist only of flowers. All sorts of interesting decorative gizmos, which are presented in abundance in sewing shops (and probably lay around in the needlework box of any experienced craftswoman) will give pattern dyeing a touch of uniqueness and charm.

Basics for kanzashi. You will be attaching flower petals somewhere. Here, we need base blanks in the form of the base of hairpins, hairpins, headbands, etc.

The choice of ribbons for kanzashi

Satin ribbons, presented in a wide variety on the shelves of specialized stores, differ not only in color, but also in width. The most popular among craftswomen are kanzashi from 2.5 cm and 5 cm tape. Although you can also make kanzashi from rep tape.

To determine exactly what length of tape you need, you need to carefully listen to the craftswoman from the video of the master class - usually she says how much and what is needed. Or read the job description.

Main advice beginners - do not take on complex elements. Start with flowers with few petals. This will help you to guarantee success and not lose interest in kanzashi (which often happens when the first pancake comes out lumpy).

Round petals are best made not from satin, but from silk or crepe satin. These materials are much easier to bend.

Don't start with ribbons either. light colors. The edges of the tape as a result of cauterization may darken, therefore, until you master all the subtleties of craftsmanship, opt for blue, purple, dark green colors.

If you decide to work with organza, keep in mind that this material crumbles very intensively after cutting.

Flowers from kanzashi ribbons

As mentioned above, flower kanzashi have received the greatest popularity in Russia. Let's take a step-by-step look at several options for creating different most spectacular looking flowers.

This bulk flower looks very nice. To create it you will need:

    Ribbon 3-5 cm wide and at least 3 meters long (with a margin), the color of the ribbon is white or yellow;

    Scissors, glue in a metal tube with a long spout, a lighter, an elastic band 15 cm long;

    Base fabric, quite dense, with non-shrinking edges. For example, felt.

    Line, beads.

A step-by-step description of creating a chrysanthemum using the kanzashi technique:

      We cut the tape into pieces 7 cm long. We need to make 50 such pieces (in general, they need a little less, but let there be a supply).

      Ribbons are bent along front side out.

      We cut one tip of the bent petal obliquely and singe with a lighter.

      Opposite corners are simply fastened together by bending them with an overlap and butt. We also singe the edge of the tape.

      We turn all the ribbons in the same way into petals.

      We take our base with a diameter of 3 cm. We make two cuts and thread an elastic band into them. It should turn out like this:

Actually, we need an elastic band to subsequently fix the chrysanthemum in the hair. But after the formation of the finished flower, you can glue or sew an ordinary, unadorned hair band to match the flower to the felt.

      From the fishing line we cut two pieces of 6 cm long. We glue three beads on each, as shown in the figure above.

      Glue the petals to the base. On rows 1-3 we glue 8 petals, on 4-5 rows 6, on the 6th we glue 4 petals.

      Each subsequent row is glued into the gap between the petals of the previous row.

      After the fifth row, we glue a fishing line with beads into the middle.

      In the middle of the sixth, final row, we insert a beautiful brooch or a large bead.

Tip: you can use petals different colors to get the original flower.

Required tools and materials:

    Satin ribbon 5 cm wide and 1 m long,

    Lighter, scissors, ruler,

  • Glue, toothpick.

Step 1. We cut the tape into 7 square pieces with a length and width of a square equal to 5 cm. We burn the edges.

Step 2 We bend each square diagonally and fix it at the top with a lighter.

Step 3 For the core of the future flower, we fold one prepared petal with the corners down.

Step 4 We do the same with other petals, only we bring the ends together not end-to-end, but leaving a small gap. At the bottom, we cut the sharp corners with scissors and burn them with matches or a lighter.

Step 5 Apply glue to the first, core petal. You can do this with a toothpick - the size of the petal is so small that you can ruin the product if you apply glue directly from the tube.

Step 6 We turn the petal, as shown in the figure.

Step 7 Around the first petal we firmly wrap the second one, with glue also applied to it.

Step 8 After all the petals are glued, the rose becomes like a rose.

But you can add as many petals as you like. To get a truly magnificent flower, it is worth adding about 10 more petals.

Kanzashi - tulips

Perhaps the simplest flower that can be made using this technique.

So, we need:

    Ribbon 2.5 cm wide.

.

Cut the ribbon into 4 squares. We form from each a classic sharp kanzashi petal.

We glue the petals together with a thermal gun or glue.

We form a tube and fix the petals with glue so that they do not fall apart. Tulip is ready.

As a tulip can be used in decor.

Easter kanzashi

Although the Japanese would hardly have approved of this, in Russia, not only hair ornaments began to be made using the kanzashi technique. Using basic fabric petals as a building material, craftswomen get a wide variety of products. For example, Easter eggs.

kanzashi easter egg

Here is such a cute Easter egg can be made using the kanzashi technique.

What is needed for this:

    Blue satin ribbon 3 cm wide. This egg will take about 300 petals. In total, we need 9 meters of tape.

    As a basis, an oval object pasted over with felt is taken. For example, a wooden egg.

    Petals are formed, as for a regular flower kanzashi. Glue them to the base from the bottom up. The order of arrangement is visible in the figure.

You can also make an Easter egg using this technique:

Other kanzashi for Easter

You can make a cute chicken. More specifically, chicken-themed fridge magnets.

You will need: yellow satin ribbon, scissors, matches, a small piece of red ribbon, pieces of black fabric, yellow fabric that does not fringe along the cut line. Well, the base is in the form of a round magnet. Thick cardboard is glued on it, felt on cardboard. Petals are already glued to the felt. You can also take as a basis a convex semi-oval, for example, from the same thick cardboard. Then the chicken will turn out voluminous.

You can also make an entire Easter composition using the kanzashi technique. For example, this one:

Kanzashi by May 9

You can decorate clothes or hair for the Victory Day in the style of kanzashi - simple, spectacular, unusual.

Brooch in kanzashi style for May 9

The simplest thing you can do for this holiday is a beautiful brooch with which you can attach a St. George ribbon to your clothes.

The easiest option for beginners in its final form will look like this:

What you need:

    Red or orange satin ribbon 5 cm wide,

    A small piece of black felt

    Scissors, matches,

    The basis for the brooch (a piece of metal with a needle-clasp at the bottom - can be disassembled old brooch or look in stores for a blank base),

    St. George Ribbon.

The procedure will be like this:

        Cut the ribbon into 7 squares.

        Fold each square diagonally.

        Raise the corners of the resulting triangle to the top.

        Cut off the corners formed to the right and left of the petal. We burn the edge with matches. You will get the following petals:

        Cut out a small circle from the felt. We glue the petals on it.

        Sew or glue the core into the center.

You can make a slightly more complex, but much more spectacular looking version of the brooch. Here's one:

You will need ribbons of three colors.

Step 1. We form the petals.

Step 2. We glue the required number of petals (count how many of them are in the photo of the brooch that you liked) to the base - a piece of dense fabric (you can take felt, as in the first case), round or oval.

Step 3. We decorate the brooch with rhinestones and a festive white bow (optional).

This is the kind of beauty you can get in the style of kanzashi, if you make it from a St. George ribbon. So, the required tools and materials:

    St. George Ribbon,

    Scissors, tweezers, glue,

    Line, lighter.

    Metal clasp for a brooch.

The order of work is as follows:

          We cut the St. George ribbon into square pieces.

          We fold each piece several times, as shown in the pictures:

BUT) at an angle

B) From right to left

AT) One more time in half

G) Cut off the excess and burn it with matches

          Ready-made petals-blanks should turn out like this:

          Now we take a St. George ribbon 20 cm long. We cut the edges of the ribbon inward at an acute angle to make beautiful forked sections. So that the cut does not fringe, we burn its edges.

From the wrong side of the ribbon we attach a clasp for a brooch to it.

          We collect the petals into a flower, gluing them to the brooch. The core can be decorated with a bead or a pebble.

          You have a ribbon with a brooch, as in the picture above.

After you master simple kanzashi, you can start implementing more complex, interesting ideas.

Beautiful curtains - a beautiful pickup. How about this option:

To bring this idea to life, you will need:

    Satin ribbons of any shades (to match the curtains or contrast - your choice). The width of the tapes should be 5 cm.

    White or cream ribbon 1 cm wide.

    Old, not needed, but whole CDs.

    Scissors, tweezers, ruler.

    Line and beads.

Progress.

1. Cut out the middle from the disks, stepping back 1.5 cm along the edges.

2. Cooking petals. We will need sharp petals of different colors.

3. From part of the petals we form buds, gluing three petals in each. Make 5 of these buds.

4. Form a flower from five petals and several stamens.

5. For stamens, we need fishing line and beads. For each small piece of fishing line we string two beads (one at both ends). Bend the stamens in half.

6. We wrap the rim of a larger diameter cut from the disk with a thin light satin ribbon. On it in pairs, as indicated in the figure, 20 petals of two different colors are glued.

Please note that these petals are folded differently - just in half, from triangular blanks.

7. Glue the flowers between the leaves. On the sides are satin buds. At the top of the disk we decorate with woven from satin ribbons pigtail.

Not only flowers, but also berries can be made from satin ribbons. So, to create a blackberry (or raspberry) you will need:

    Round pieces of tape with a diameter of 1-1.5 cm,

    Lighter,

    Scissors, needle and thread to match the tape.

    Green satin ribbon 5 cm wide.

    Piece of felt.

Progress:

  1. With the help of a needle and thread, we form small balls-bags from circles. Like these ones:

    There should be 7 such circles in total.

    We collect them together like beads with the help of the same thread with a needle.

    As a result, we get such a berry

  1. We cut the green ribbon into squares, form round kanzashi petals from them. Enough 7-10 petals.

    We cut out a round base from felt, attach green petals to it, and glue our blackberry in the center.

Tips: if you take a red ribbon, you get a juicy raspberry, which can be done in the same way. And if you are going to decorate with a berry not an elastic band, then you will not need felt - the leaves with blackberries can be sewn or glued immediately to the finished product.

Master class MK bonsai kanzashi

We have all heard about bonsai. And, probably, there is no person who would not like these amazing trees. Only here to grow this is not something that is difficult, but unrealistic! But I want to have ... Beaded bonsai already exist, but I, for example, have not seen it in the kanzashi technique. But having fallen ill with this idea for quite some time, I finally decided to bring it to life!
So, let's make kanzashi bonsai. I warn you right away, this is a rather long process and, moreover, it will require additional floral bells and whistles.

You will need:
satin ribbon of several shades of green, 2.5 cm wide, about 5 meters;
floristic wire;
teip tape green and brown;
small planter;
pebbles for soil clearance;
cotton pads;
ordinary and / or construction adhesive tape;
cement or alabaster;
tweezers;
burner or soldering iron, or lighter;
glue gun.

To get started, it’s worth typing bonsai photos in any search engine and looking at the real ones, well, to stimulate your imagination!

And now we begin preparatory work. It took me about 250 petals to make this tree, not so scary, remembering our New Year's exploits!

We make many, many narrow small petals from different shades green. In principle, you can take one color, but several give a special charm. We make branches on the wire. To do this, first we make the top of three petals, and then we drip a small drop of glue from the gun onto the tip of the wire, quickly fasten one petal, quickly on the other side another one and quickly press it with tweezers or long nose pliers:

We glue the top according to the principle of a branch from Naira. We get a branch on a wire:

Collecting the first branch. I advise you to immediately slightly bend the wire at the top so that you can connect several and more, so that they do not slip, you can, if desired, fasten with ordinary tape:
This is our main element from which we will assemble our bonsai. And you need a lot of these elements!

Connect with teip tape. If necessary, you can glue the tip. By connecting several wire branches, you can fasten them together. Do not forget to bend the wire a little - straight lines will interfere with each other!
Actually this is the whole process. We connect the wire branches, bend them as we see fit, it's all fantasy and intuitive, we get larger branches.

We bend the large ones in order to connect them together. This is a process - bent, attached, bent again, didn’t like it, straightened it and all over again. When the branch thickens, you can already switch to a brown teip tape. Large branches can also be fastened together with ordinary tape. Just for convenience.

It seems that we have outlined large branches, but our tree should thicken downwards. Winding in many layers of teip is not very good, it is better to use either ordinary tape or one-sided construction tape. The wire at the bottom can be slightly unbent in the form of a kind of fan, so that there is more volume. Do not try to wind the construction tape too carefully, let it be with creases, with folds - it's more natural.
Since I photographed the MK in the process of inventing, this is where it dawned on me, because the branches should begin to thicken earlier. And so I took off the construction tape and made each of the branches more powerful downwards (with the help of tape and then teip). And again connected the branches together. I wrapped the adhesive tape, to thicken it, you can put pieces of cotton wool or cotton pads under it.

Here is my bonsai. Now he must be planted. You can use anything: a bowl, a bowl, or I just took a small planter.
For fixing and weighting, you can use cement or alabaster. Alabaster is probably better, but I have cement, which I probably made not too liquid ... Well, okay, it dried faster.

The final touch, take decorative pebbles and glue them and (optionally) a few branches already without wire.
That, in fact, is the whole process. I believe that to say "it is necessary just so many branches and fasten exactly like this" in this case is not very feasible. The creation is just fantasy and this is its charm! And the result is such a miniature tree, which will now live in my house and delight everyone.

Satin ribbons are one of the most affordable and spectacular materials, loved and used by many needlewomen. And this is not surprising, because the atlas with proper care can be very durable, which means that products made from it will delight you with their beauty for a long time.

In addition, its consumption during operation is quite small, and the process of manufacturing all kinds of original accessories, exclusive interior decorations, decor elements or unusual gifts- simple and accessible even for beginners.

If you haven't worked with ribbons yet, give it a try and see how easy and beautiful it can be. Moreover, there are many master classes that instruct in detail how to do it yourself. different crafts from ribbons.

From simple to complex

"Ribbon creativity", in addition to originality and beauty, also attracts with its diversity, because satin ribbons can be used both for making simple knick-knacks and for creating real masterpieces or works of art.

For example, here are the most simple options ribbon crafts that even your child can do:

  • bows or flowers - these can be hairpins, jewelry for a hoop, brooches, etc.;
  • baubles and bracelets;
  • various decorations for decorating gifts or home interiors - flowers, figurines, animals.

Crafts from ribbons can also be complex, made using various well-known techniques (“kanzashi”, “artichoke” and others):

  • whole panels and paintings are embroidered with satin ribbons, aromatic sachets are made from them;
  • they are used to decorate Easter eggs and wedding paraphernalia - making bouquets, decorating wine glasses, gift bottles of champagne, pillows for rings, etc .;
  • from ribbons and soap with your own hands, you can create whole baskets of flowers that will decorate any interior or be a great gift.

And that's not all possible crafts from this material. For inspiration, you can use existing ideas in master classes or come up with something special of your own.

Satin Ribbon Rose

Of course, you can start with the simplest. To easily do unusual and complex things, you need to understand basic techniques creating products from satin ribbons. And it's best to see it step by step in the master class.

Step by step description

  1. Although tulips, dandelions, hyacinths, primroses, and many other flowers are folded from ribbons, the rose is the most popular flower among craftswomen. Roses are most often made using the kanzashi technique. For the flower, choose a five-centimeter-wide ribbon of your desired color. Trim the edge of the tape evenly and melt it with a lighter so that it does not crumble. After that, lay the ribbon so that its wrong side is facing up.
  2. Wrap the upper left corner down (there are arrows in the pictures of the master class and the fold lines are indicated by a dotted line), and wrap the lower left corner to the right twice.
  3. We take a needle and thread of the same color as your ribbon. Fasten the resulting fold (the thread should be long, because you will have to flash the entire tape later).
  4. Connect the two layers of tape, stitching from the fixed place to the right (it should be about one or two millimeters from the edge) and stop at the edge of the top tape.
  5. Tuck the long edge of the tape to the left (in the direction of the arrow), and then the entire tape up to the right at an angle.
  6. Make sure that the right sides match up and you have three layers. Sew them together, up from the bottom corner. Then stop, but do not cut the thread, but tuck the tape down, as the dotted line in the photo master class shows.
  7. Then fold at an angle to the left and stitch again, only to the left along the top edge. After connecting the three layers, fold the tape in the direction of the arrow to the right, then at an angle down, and continue to sew.
  8. When there are enough folds (this will take about fifty centimeters of tape), sew stitches along the edge of the last one, capturing two layers. Cut off excess material and melt it with fire, but leave the thread.
  9. Tighten the thread and you will get a whole row of petals. Start forming a bud. The first petal must be made from the very beginning of the tape, pulling the thread where you fixed the two folds. Twist it around these folds and you will have the center of the flower.
  10. Take another needle and thread and pull the bottom edges of the petals together. Then form the second petal, wind it around the bud and hem it in the same way from the bottom.
  11. Continue on the same principle, adjusting the petals with the thread tension. If you get more assembly on the bud, then your rosette will also be larger, looking like a blossoming beautiful flower. And you can do a little tension, and then a tender bud will come out.
  12. Then twist the thread to the end and hem each petal from the bottom. Carefully fasten and cut the thread. Straighten your flower.

Depending on how you want to use the rosette, its bottom can be glued with a piece of felt or ribbon, sewn to leaves, attached to a safety pin (for a brooch), hairpin or hoop, etc. Such a delicate and beautiful product will be a great decoration or a gift for spring holidays like March 8th.

Little roses - simple

Ribbon Poppy

In master classes, there are other ways to create various colors with your own hands. For example, you can cut many parts separately from a satin ribbon, shaped like leaves and petals. Then burn them, form a flower and glue the elements together, decorating them with beads or sequins.

Lily from the tape - photo MK

Ribbon bridal bouquet

The made flowers can then be sewn onto fabric or embroidered with satin ribbons directly on the canvas, making various paintings and panels. Using the same technique, it is easy to make many roses for wedding bouquet bride. It remains only to make the base on which the flowers will be attached.

Easter eggs decorated with ribbons

If you want to decorate Easter eggs, you can either simply wrap the blank with a cloth and then decorate it with flowers or ribbon bows, or use the artichoke technique - fold the ribbons different color in the manner of fish scales and glue them to the surface of the egg.

Balls can be pasted over in a similar way, and then you will get original Christmas decorations or just interior decorations.

A basket of ribbons for a bouquet

To make an unusual basket, take a piece of oval soap and fasten safety pins on it in a circle at the top and bottom (their number should be the same, and you need to place them on the soap at a distance of about six to eight millimeters from each other - just stick them into a bar of soap ).

Then take a ribbon (not very wide - about one or two centimeters), fasten one of its edges with a pin and braid the walls of the basket as follows: hook the ribbon on the top pin, then lower it down, hook it on the bottom one and lift it up, continuing further until you all walls will not be braided.

You will have long end below - you will need it to braid the bottom edge and form the side. Then you need to translate it up to decorate the top edge. Use the remaining ends of the ribbon to create a bow. Make wire for a basket and a handle and braid it with a ribbon of the same color or make an assembly out of it.

Attach the ends of the handle to the soap and decorate the basket. You can put primroses in it and give it to a friend or mother on March 8, or decorate it in any other way.

Making such beautiful and unusual crafts is a great way to show your imagination and creativity and make nice gifts yourself or loved ones.

Kanzashi technique

Dear colleagues! I would like to introduce you to my work in technique"Kanzashi".This hobby of mine has become partly a hobby of the whole family. My sons actively help in all preparatory stages: cutting blanks, singeing, folding. Daughter Polina, for whom we initially began to make beautiful hairpins, helps in composing compositions. comes up with new ideas. Dad organizes everything technical part, delivery of materials for work.

So " Kanzashi".

One of the most popular and interesting trends in arts and crafts is technique hair accessories jewelry kanzashi. This art comes from Japan. (kanzashi, from the Japanese word kanzashi). The phrase kanzashi comes from several words - "kami" (hair) and "sasu" (stick in, since historically this women's accessory in the form of a hairpin was used to create the famous high Japanese hairstyles. Allow me to present to your attention my master class on making an interesting toy that can be very useful in the classroom.

In our time, the kanzashi technique has become very popular. This technique allows you to create unique and inimitable products as well.

Hello, dear colleagues! In my blog, I have already written about the love of flowers. I love fresh flowers, I collect flowers from ribbons and napkins, I make them.

Kanzashi is the art of making hair ornaments, which originated in ancient times in Japan. To decorate their hairstyles girls.

Kazanshi - under this unusual name with a Japanese accent lies an interesting female hobby with a simple technique. Try yourself in a new hobby and decorate your world with spectacular satin flowers!

Women always strive to look stylish. A bright addition to the image can be accessories decorated with flowers. We recommend that you create an unfading flower using the kanzashi technique with your own hands, for beginners this type of creativity may seem incomprehensible and complicated, but believe me, everything is much simpler than you think. In the list of women's hobbies, Kazan women take one of the leading places, moreover, this hobby is increasingly chosen by men!

A little history of beautiful needlework

Historically, the birthplace of this art form, like origami, is Japan, and it appeared around 1700. Japanese women were not allowed to wear necklaces or bracelets, so they decorated their hair in a special way.

Kanzashi (or kanzashi) - the so-called combs, sticks or hairpins decorated with silk flowers. Looking at kanzashi, one could judge the character and even the social status of a woman, because luxurious jewelry often cost even more than a kimono.

Kanzashi differed in color scheme and shape depending on the time of year. Products were created by eminent masters. The manufacturing technology of those times was different from the modern one - the craftsmen used rice glue, each silk square piece was folded and a petal was formed, they, in turn, were collected on a thread and glued to the base. Thus, whole bouquets were collected, with which combs or hairpins were decorated.

Kanzashi and modernity

Nowadays, this Japanese technique has not lost its significance and has become popular in European countries. Needlewomen create kanzashi-style flowers and decorate hair accessories and brooches with them. Beginner's Kanzashi Master's Starter Kit

So, the materials needed to get started:

  • satin ribbons (for beginners, preferably 5 cm wide);
  • beads or buttons (for the centers of flowers), a lighter or a candle (but be careful - the candle can smoke the tape);
  • sharp scissors, needle and sewing thread;
  • glue (we recommend choosing colorless, "Moment Crystal" is ideal);
  • tweezers.

You can use a wide variety of accessories and materials: organza, tulle, rhinestones, sequins,.

Where to start: basic principles of work

For convenience, immediately cut the ribbons into identical squares and singe them so that the satin does not crumble during operation (more experienced needlewomen use a soldering iron, it cuts the tape evenly and singes the edges at the same time). In the original, in the kanzashi technique, there are only two types of petals - sharp and round. But modern craftswomen have come up with many modifications to the shapes of the petals, which allows you to diversify the work and make it even more interesting.

Step by step technique creating kanzashi is as follows:

  1. Cut satin ribbons into squares.
  2. From each square, fold a petal, singeing the ends and junctions with a lighter.
  3. Collect the petals on a strong thread.
  4. Glue the resulting blank to the base - it can be a circle of felt or a circle of cardboard covered with satin to match the flower.
  5. Glue or sew on the middle of the flower (for example, a button).
  6. Add decor if necessary (for example, rhinestones or lace);
    attach the finished kanzashi flower to the base (hairpin, brooch, headband, etc.).
  7. Wait for the glue to dry completely and spread the petals if necessary.
