Wedding decoration with artificial flowers

Usually, artificial flowers at a wedding are used for:

  • and her wedding wreath, and if necessary, also for her handbag and hairpins;
  • and best man;
  • interior compositions.

For example, from satin roses you can make such an original wedding bouquet. Don't miss our wedding day!

We make a delicate and stylish bouquet of satin roses with our own hands!

Just below, you will find how to make artificial flowers at home. Everything you need for this exquisite creativity can be purchased at a specialized store. It doesn't take much:

  • a set of rolls (these are metal balls on wooden handles to give the petals a convex shape);
  • knife for corrugating leaves and petals;
  • a spatula for curling the edges of the petals;
  • scissors, awl, tweezers.

All bouquets, both for the bride and her bridesmaids, are made of fabric.

All of these are very easy to use tools.

To make fabric flowers, we also need:

  • rubber pad on which you will process the details of the flower;
  • brushes for tinting and jars for dyes;
  • glass on which tinting is done.

You can’t do without soft wire for stems, paper (preferably cigarette paper) for wrapping them, and PVA glue (PVA-M latex glue). May be required salty dough or colored paraffin for pistils and stamens and aniline dyes for fabric. And your imagination and ability to be creative will also be required.

The most important thing is right choice fabrics for flowers that you are going to make with your own hands.

Important: it is easiest to work with natural fabrics (crepe satin, silk, crepe de chine, chiffon). They are well stretched and easily corrugated. Synthetic fabrics do not stretch well and deform when the tool is overheated; working with them requires a lot of experience.

Important: use only new fabrics.

Master class of fabric flowers for the wedding

Let's make a very simple open semi-double pale pink chiffon rose. The petals of this rose are almost flat, revealing stamens. Flower diameter 5-7 cm.

Some details for assembling a fabric flower

Preparing fabric for a flower

The fabric is pre-gelatinized. To do this, two tablespoons of gelatin are left to swell in a glass. cold water and then heated in a water bath. With this solution, brush the fabric on a flat surface with a brush, then hang it to dry. The dried fabric is ironed with a warm iron.

Patterns of flowers from fabric

can already be found ready-made patterns, but there is a great little-known way - we will share it with you: patterns can be made according to patterns taken from the contours of fresh flowers. To do this, the flower is disassembled into individual petals, on thick paper outline their contours, cut out, and the pattern is ready.

Do the same with the leaves, but be sure to make a small protrusion in the shape of a boat 5x4 mm at the base of each leaf blade to attach the leaf to the stem. With this method, you can get patterns of any flower, not just roses.

Petals of a very convex shape, not lying completely on the paper, are circled with some deviation from their shape.

Cut “along the oblique”, circling the pattern on the fabric ballpoint pen(red or green). The pencil is not good, as it leaves a dirty mark. You need to cut, leaving a trace from the handle behind the outline.

Coloring the petals of fabric flowers

Shadow tint will make the flower look more natural. They make it using the “raw” method: the petals are soaked in water, laid out on glass and the desired tone is applied with a brush. The leaves and sepals are painted with green paint, the petals are yellow with salad or salmon.

Shaping the petals

This will require bulbs. They are heated on an electric stove and the petal is processed on a soft pad, making it concave. There is another method of processing, cold: the petal is placed on a piece of rubber and carried out with a curling knife from the edges to the center.

Making stamens for flowers from fabric

These elements complete the complete resemblance to a living flower. The stamens are made from threads gelatinized, like fabric, and a colored paint color, into which the end of the thread smeared with glue is dipped. Color can be replaced with melted wax. The number of stamens is 30-40 pieces.

The pestle is made from a ball of cotton wool planted on a wire, painted in light green. The stamens and pistil are attached to a wire hook wrapped in paper and smeared with glue.

fabric flower core

A small button or cotton ball smeared with glue will act as a core. First fix a bunch of stamens with a pestle on it and start gluing the petals: from small to large, in a checkerboard pattern. Glue on the green sepals last. Attach the flower to the end of the crochet stem.

For all work, use PVA glue, it does not leave marks on the fabric.

Fabric flower stem

It is made of wire wrapped in dyed paper shavings (strips of tissue paper 4-7 cm wide). Paper can be replaced with green thread. For strength, the stem is covered with glue or varnish.

Leaves for fabric flowers

Leaf petioles are made of flexible wire, glued, like the stem, with dyed paper shavings. Each leaf blade is glued to a separate petiole, then the veins are applied to each blade with a hard rubber knife. Petioles are collected in a complex leaf with one common petiole.

Master class 1. Simple fabric roses in country style

If you like, or rustic, then this master class is for you. Below are examples of work that you can do by mastering the technique of twisting fabric roses.

You will need:

  • Textile;
  • Scissors;
  • Hot glue gun.

How to make a fabric rose:

Step 1. Cut the fabric into ribbons. To create one rose, you will need one strip 50-70 cm long and about 3-5 cm wide. However, you can choose other sizes if you want to make the rose larger or smaller than in this project.

Step 2. Fold your strip in half and put a 1.5 cm line of glue on its tip (see right photo above).

Step 3. Start rolling the strip into a roll in a few turns.

Step 4. When the roll becomes dense and strong enough, proceed to the formation of the first "petals": fold the ribbon obliquely to the outside as shown in the upper photo on the right and wrap the center of the rose.

Step 5. Continue to form the petals in the same order: fold the ribbon on the bias to the outside - wrap the blank - fold the ribbon on the bias to the outside - wrap the blank - etc. There should be approximately 3-5 bends of the tape per row of petals. From time to time, layers of fabric need to be fixed with hot glue. As a result, you should get a rose like in these photos.

Experiment with the number of folds in the flower and the density of the fabric roll to achieve a more casual or, conversely, more neat look your flower

Step 6. Once the rose has reached the desired diameter, lower the remaining ribbon tail down and glue it to the base.

In this project, the back side of the craft was covered with the remaining tail of the fabric.

Step 8. Make the number of flowers you need in different sizes - small, medium and large.

This video shows a master class on how to make roses from denim with your own hands.

Master class 2. Artificial flowers made of satin fabric or organza

Looking at these flowers from satin fabric, it seems that they were created by a real master of flower making, but in fact, even a beginner can make the same realistic peonies / roses.

You will need:

  • Candle;
  • Satin, silk, chiffon or organza in 100% polyester. For the manufacture of peonies, the matter of white and Pink colour(all shades);
  • Scissors;
  • floss threads yellow color(for stamens);
  • Needle.

Instruction:

Step 1. Cut out 5 circles from the fabric: 4 circles with a diameter of 8-10 cm and 1 circle with a diameter of about 5-8 cm. You can cut it roughly and by eye, any inaccuracies and irregularities do not matter.

Step 2. Light a candle and start processing the first round blank: carefully bring its edge close to the flame and start rotating around its axis so that all the edges of the circle are melted and twisted. Be careful, keep a glass of water ready, and most importantly - do not bring the workpiece too close to the fire. Keep in mind that if you overdo it, the edges will turn black, which is not always desirable. However, sometimes it is the blackened edges that give homemade flowers realism or originality. Repeat this process with all remaining circles.

Step 3. Now, using scissors, make 4 cuts on each blank as shown in the diagram and photo below. The main thing here is to leave the center of the circle intact.

Step 4. Back to working with the candle again. This time, we melt the sections we just made by pushing the sections apart with both hands. Repeat the procedure with all five petals.

Step 5. Set 2 large and 1 smallest blanks aside. We will return to them, but for now let's take care of the 2 remaining blanks, that is, the middle layers of the peony petals. They need to be cut again according to the following scheme.

As a result, the petals will be twice as many.

Step 6 Scorch new cuts with a candle and set the blanks aside.

Step 7. It's time to make the peony stamens in the form of a small pompom from yellow floss threads. For this:

  • Wrap a whole thread of floss tightly around your index and middle fingers folded together. You should have about 8 turns.
  • Now tightly tie the middle of the resulting skein with the same yellow thread (between two fingers).
  • Cut two loops, straighten the threads and trim the pom-pom if necessary.

Step 8. We proceed to the "assembly" of the flower. Stack two large blanks on top of each other, which have only 4 petals, then put two blanks with 8 petals on top of them and, finally, complete the bud with the smallest blank with 4 petals.

Step 9. Hooray, the flower is almost ready! It remains only to sew a yellow pompom to its center, at the same time sewing all 5 layers of petals together.

If desired, glue / sew the necessary accessories to the back of the bud, for example, a pin, to make a brooch out of a flower.

By changing the shape, color, size of the petals, their number and the principle of gluing, you can make not only peonies and roses, but also poppies (pictured), ranunculus, lilies and tulips.

And here is an example of flowers made from organza.

Master class 3. A flower from frills in 5 minutes

You do not have hot glue, but do you have a needle and thread? Or did you suddenly need to make fabric flowers as quickly as possible? Then we hasten to introduce you to the technique of making flowers from frills.

You will need:

  • Textile;
  • Scissors;
  • Needle and thread to match the fabric;
  • Iron (optional).

Step 1. Cut the fabric into strips about 30 cm long and about 7-8 cm wide. You can choose other sizes to make the flowers smaller or larger.

Step 2. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and iron the fold.

Step 3. Baste the workpiece with wide stitches at the bottom as shown in the photo below.

Step 4 Gather the workpiece into an accordion by slowly pulling the thread. Do not pull the thread too hard to avoid breaking it.

Step 5. Close the circle by connecting the two ends of the tape and making a few stitches (tie a knot on the back).

Step 6. Glue/sew beads, rhinestones or buttons into the center of the flower. Ready!

This method can be changed slightly if you want to make a more layered flower with raw cuts, such as linen or jeans. Cut out a wide and long strip of fabric, baste it in the middle from beginning to end, fold it into an accordion, roll one edge of the strip into a roll, and then begin to fold the tape around it. Periodically, layers of fabric need to be fixed with glue or stitches. Below in the photo slider is a master class in pictures on making a flower from flax (scroll the photo to the right).

If you have a large length of fabric, you can make a flower with a large diameter, for example, to decorate a pillow cover. To pick up such a long ribbon, the easiest way is to use a sewing machine.

To make such large flowers, you will need strips of fabric 2.5-3 m long

These potted flowers are made from old cotton t-shirts.

Master class 4. Volumetric pom-pom flower

This master class is good in cases where you need a fabric flower to be voluminous and lush.

You will need:

  • Any soft fabric desired color;
  • Hot glue gun;
  • Scissors;
  • Felt.

Instruction:

Step 1. Cut out about 20-30 circles with a diameter of about 4 cm from the fabric. All these circles will become petals in the future. You can cut blanks by eye, the correctness of the shape does not matter.

  • To cut several circles at once, simply fold the fabric 3-4 times.

Step 2. Now cut out a circle with a diameter of about 4 cm from the felt. This circle will become the base of your flower.

Step 3 Take one of your petal circles and fold it into a bag like the photo below.

Step 4. Glue your blank with the tip to the center of the felt base.

Step 5. Continue gluing your paper bags one by one to the felt base until it is completely covered with petals. Voila! The flower is ready!

If you wish, you can make the flower not lush, but flat and supplement it with beaded stamens. To do this, the petals need to be folded as follows: we bend the circle in half, then we bend the right and left parts of the resulting semicircle to its center to make a quarter. Next, you just have to glue the petals in a circle on a felt base, and then sew / glue beads into the center.

And a few more ideas that you can implement by following our master class.

And finally, we offer you to watch another video tutorial on how to make fabric flowers with your own hands.

A fabric flower can be considered a magnificent element of dress decor. He can transform your appearance and add a touch of mystery and charm. By learning how to make flowers on a fabric dress with your own hands, you will create unique image. The master classes with photos provided in this article will help you create this decor element.

The history of the canvas

The fabric appeared before our era. People made it from available back then natural materials- wool, silk thread, linen and cotton.

Woolen fabrics were created using the wool and down of animals. First, the thread was twisted, then the fabric was woven from it. This material was the basis of the clothes of our ancestors, who needed to survive in difficult conditions.

Silk threads were mined by Chinese craftsmen from silkworm cocoons. Legend has it that a Chinese princess once dropped a cocoon into hot water and it broke into tiny threads. Scientists from many countries were engaged in the issue of creating silk fabric, but they could not solve it. The Chinese guarded their secret for a long time, until silkworm cocoons secretly entered other countries.

Flax was cultivated in Ancient Egypt. Weaving masters created the finest muslin, which was a favorite material for tailoring the clothes of wealthy nobles. The Crusades helped spread this wonderful fabric throughout the Mediterranean.

ancient greek linen– cotton fabric, carefully woven and refined using natural dyes. The clothes of ancient kings and their latest decorations, which were found during excavations, were created from this fabric.

With the advent of manufactories, fabric has ceased to be something scarce. Materials for its production began to be grown everywhere. Only the Chinese with dignity carried the process of creating silk fabric through time. China and India are still famous for the quality and luxury of this material. At the beginning of the 20th century, scientists developed the first artificial fibers that were used in the production of fabric. They gave it special properties, such as elasticity.

When you go to a store that sells fabrics, you can see a wide range of fabrics of different textures and colors.

artificial floristry

Creating artificial flowers is a whole science. Simple flowers that can decorate a girl's dress do not require much time and materials. Even novice masters will cope with them. But flowers that are as similar as possible to real ones require painstaking work. They can be a great addition. wedding dress or be part of the bride's bouquet.

A stand-in bouquet created from fabric flowers will not wither or lose its appearance and will help to keep the memories of the happiest day.

To make these flowers you will need:

  • Pattern. It is most often removed by disassembling a real flower into individual petals;
  • Textile. For work, it is better to choose thin fabrics - satin, crepe de chine, chiffon, silk, satin, organza;
  • Bulki. This tool can be purchased at an arts and crafts store. Bulki are balls of different diameters, mounted on a handle. The spherical shape will help mimic the natural curves of a flower petal;
  • Aniline dyes for fabric are needed to tint the petals, thereby giving them a natural look;
  • Scissors, spatula for twisting the edge of the petal, awl, glue, tweezers;
  • Burner. The heat-treated fabric easily takes and retains the given shape;
  • Decorative elements - pistils, stamens;
  • Rubber pad. A petal is pressed into it with a bulb and shaped into it.

Now let's see how to make a flower. Large quantity The tools listed above may not be needed. The simplest flowers can be made on the basis of small circles of different diameters.

Note! The more layers of fabric you take while working, the more magnificent the finished product will be.

Prepare some circles from the fabric of your choice. The fabric needs to be cut correctly, this is done “along the oblique”. Do not use patterns to transfer simple pencils, because graphite smears and stains matter. Use a colored ballpoint pen. Open just below the outlined outline.

Using a burner or candle, slightly melt the edges of the blanks. The process is shown in the photo.

Connect the resulting parts with a thread.

In the center of the flower you need to make stamens. To do this, use the purchased decorative elements or make them yourself.

A lush rose is made in a similar way. It is based on circular petals of different diameters.

The petals are processed with bulba.

If you want to decorate the dress with a brooch, make a felt liner and attach the necessary accessories to it.

These simple flowers will be an excellent decor for both wedding and everyday dresses.

Simple Ideas

Let's move on to simpler, but no less beautiful fabric flowers. The process of their manufacture is so simple that it does not even require additional explanations. So, look carefully at the photo instructions.

Roses

Daisies and chrysanthemums

peonies

The abundance of fashionable and affordable ways to decorate clothes and interior details creates great opportunities for creative self-realization, but often there is not enough time for frills or the decoration object does not require or is not worth the enormous cost of serious design. It is in such cases that ingenuity comes to the rescue and what is popularly called "grandmother's secrets" - elements that are easy to perform and made in a matter of minutes.

Volume application

Plants using the “appliqué” technique have long become a familiar way of decorating clothes and accessories. Diversify a boring scheme will help voluminous application, with which you can decorate the edge of the neckline of a dress, the hem of a coat or a handbag. Volumetric flowers look spectacular if they are asymmetrically located on only one side of the product (for example, on the shoulder).

To decorate clothes with convex flowers you will need:

  • stretch fabric;
  • filler (synthetic winterizer).

When planning to make do-it-yourself convex fabric flowers, it is best to choose a fabric whose edge does not fray when trimmed. The loose edge should be processed with curly scissors and leave a hem allowance.

  1. So that when fixing the application on the base, the edges of the allowance do not turn away, they must first be ironed.
  2. You should not immediately attach the element along the entire contour - 3-4 cm will be needed for stuffing with filler.
  3. When the filler is laid, the hole can be stitched. You can add texture by laying decorative stitches around the middle of the flower and on the leaves.

As a basis for convex plants, it is better to use dense matter that is not prone to deformation.

Embroidery ribbons

Within the framework of the art of embroidery, there is a separate decorative direction, which involves the creation of paintings from ribbons sewn to the base. This is quite painstaking and difficult work, but according to this principle, you can decorate clothes even without experience.

You will need ribbons with a width of:

  • 3 cm;
  • 2 cm;
  • 1 cm;
  • a circle of fabric for the base;
  • beads.

The optimal material for the manufacture of such flora are satin ribbons or monophonic braid. Organza ribbon will also give a great result, but you need to adapt to working with it.

  1. The ribbons are stacked one on top of the other so that their longitudinal axes coincide.
  2. With a basting stitch, the ribbons are gathered together and slightly gathered.
  3. The bud is formed in a spiral and is attached with pins to a round base. It remains only to sew on the inflorescence, hide the unsightly ends of the ribbons and the decor with fabric flowers is ready.

This method can be used by creating not only lush buds on the fabric, but also textured ornaments, and having “filled your hand” you can abandon the fastener (base) and form a pattern on the product.

Volumetric printed decorations

Not limited to finishing clothes and accessories, you can make jewelry from fabric flowers - a necklace, beads or a bracelet. At the heart of this idea, simple from the point of view of production technology, is the principle of tailoring soft toys from two or more parts.

To make one printed flower you will need:

  • kapron or dense (stretching) fabric;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • decorative thread or thin lace;
  • buttons;
  • attachments for jewelry (clasps, chain, connecting rings).

According to the template, you need to cut out two identical flowers from the fabric.

  1. Fold wrong sides out and sew along the edge (not forgetting to leave a gap for filling with padding polyester).
  2. Unscrew the product front side and fill.
  3. Sew up the technological hole.
  4. Rewind with a decorative thread crosswise in the recesses between the petals and decorate with buttons.
  5. Sew on connecting rings and fasten on a chain or, using pieces of a chain, sequentially connect several flowers into a complex decoration.

When working with nylon, you need to process its edge with a candle due to the tendency of the fabric to excessive shedding. Since you can make flowers from fabric that stretches well and strongly by pulling it with a tourniquet, there is no need to cut complex shapes - you can cut two circles from nylon.

Rope rose

To decorate belts, headbands and other accessories, roses from a tourniquet or strips of fabric are often used. The fastening of such structures is done manually with a seam over the edge or with glue.

  1. Bend a strip of fabric 5 cm wide in half along the longitudinal side with the wrong side out and stitch.
  2. Turn right side out (it is important that the seam does not twist).
  3. Slightly gather with a basting seam and sew to the product along the edge of the connecting seam.
  4. To decorate a handbag or hair ornament, the sewn-on edge (after forming a flower with pins) is smeared with glue and connected to the base.

A tourniquet or a thick decorative cord is immediately glued to the product during the formation of an inflorescence. For reliability, the cord is sewn to the base around the perimeter.

Knitwear decor

In most cases, to create flowers from fabric, the master class requires a large amount of step by step illustrations. You can make simple but expressive plants for decorating knitwear from any dense and rather thick fabric that is not prone to shedding - felt and or fleece.

You can make two types of flowers - terry and simple with curved petals.

  1. For the first, you will need a long strip of fabric 4-6 cm wide, folded in half and stitched along the connecting edge (you do not need to turn it inside out).
  2. The resulting element should be folded in a spiral and sewn to the product from the side of the junction of the layers (i.e. the place of the fold of the matter forms the front part) - you get a rosette resembling a rose from a tourniquet.
  3. Using scissors, you need to make cuts in 0.3-0.5 cm increments to create inflorescence petals.

To make a textured flower with petals, you need to cut 6 petals from the fabric (in this case, the base of the petal should be straight). Make an opposite fold on each and collect into a bud with a needle and thread.

The middle of the flower can be decorated with beads or a bright button.

The leaves in such compositions are sewn to the product along the longitudinal axis.

space flowers

Inflorescences, whose silhouette is formed using folds of material, can be used to decorate clothes, furniture covers, clutches and handbags. These elements are based on a circle and are good because they have a minimum volume and practically do not lose their appearance after washing.

For manufacturing you will need:

  • rigid woven dublerin;
  • decorative matter;
  • thread;
  • bead or button.

When choosing dublerin, it is better to get as hard as possible with an adhesive side.

  1. According to the template from dublerin, you need to cut out a base circle.
  2. The radius of each inflorescence is cut out 2 times larger than the base, so that the decorative material covers the doubler on both sides.
  3. If the decorative material is prone to shedding, then it must be cut with curly scissors with a margin of 0.5 mm per hem.
  4. Doublerin is placed in the middle of the inflorescence blank from the wrong side and ironed through gauze so that the two fabrics stick together.
  5. The allowance is ironed on the wrong side.
  6. The fabric is gathered to the center, fastened with a thread and decorated with a bead or a button.
You can fix such a flower on the product by stitching it along the contour.

It is important to remember that the decor will last a long time not only due to the absence of complex and multi-component elements, but also on the condition that the base fabric and the material for decoration will have the same characteristics and care requirements - dyeing method, temperature and washing technique.
