Perhaps the item was bought and did not fit in size. And what cannot be worn as is, can be remade completely into something else, or make changes, decorate.

If not everyone, then many have cut their jeans to shorts. Did you sew a dress out of trousers or jeans? Not? Then you don't even know what interesting models may turn out.

We sew a dress from trousers

Method number 1: patches or stripes

It is logical that the trousers are pieces of fabric from which a dress can be cut in the same way as from a whole piece of material. Only it will not be a one-piece model, because we are limited by the cut of trousers.

First, we wash the trousers, if necessary, after they dry, we cut the fabric at the seams without any flaws (abrasions, stains, hooks, holes).

The dress will have to be assembled from small parts. Choose a pattern with details that fit on the cuts from the trousers.

Skinny trousers alone are hardly enough for a dress, unless you are sewing one for a little girl. Therefore, you will have to combine two, or even more. In this case, the fabric should be approximately the same thickness and, of course, combined in color, texture or pattern.

Two-pants dress example

Trousers were used from the same plain dense stretch fabric different colors: black and red. The dress was sewn, so to speak, at random, without a pattern. Other black stretch fabric is used for sleeves, neckline and hem.

1, 2. We cut the seams along the perimeter of the legs. We get 8 pieces of fabric: 4 black, 4 red.

3, 4, 5. We make the middle of the dress red. We cut a strip for the front and back. If the length of the whole piece is not enough, we make it from parts. You can do embroidery.

6, 7. Cut out the side parts of the front. We attach two side parts to the middle part of the front.

8, 9. Draw an armhole line on one side. Cut out. Fold the part in half, circle the armhole on the second part and cut it out. We correct the side line, cut off the excess.

10. Level the bottom.

11. Before the dress is ready.

12. On a black strip of fabric we put the middle part of the back (the edges overlap), circle around the edge of the middle part.

13. So cut out the two side parts of the back.

14. We sew the middle part of the back with the side ones.

15. We impose on the back in front of the front sides inward, along the front we draw a line of the bottom and armholes on the back.

16. Fold the back in half face inward, draw a side line.

17. The back of the dress is ready.

18, 19. We sweep the back with the front, folding the parts face to face, along the side seams. We measure. We plan surpluses, remove, correct.

20. We cut out the sleeve from unnecessary fabric, tack, measure, adjust.

21. We tear off, cut out according to the markup and get a sleeve pattern. According to these patterns, we already cut out the details from the prepared fabric (4 in total).

22. Sew along one side.

23. We attach to the armhole.

24. Sew the sleeves. Sew them on the bottom.

25. Sew a strip folded in half lengthwise to the neckline. We insert a wide elastic band.

To the bottom of the dress, you can also sew a strip of fabric that is used for the sleeves. Here is a dress made of trousers.

From the stripes, you get such a pretty sundress on a drawstring.

The dress can be sewn according to this principle: cut the pattern into strips, as shown in the figure, then cut these parts out of the trousers.

You can first stitch the canvas from the stripes, and then cut out the details of the dress.

Method number 2: use the top of the trousers as the original part of the dress

Wide trousers or, even more so, men's trousers big size give more options. The part with a belt can be used both on top of the dress and on the bottom. See original ideas.

Method number 3: pants and a dress

From very wide knitted trousers with an elastic band, just like that, in the leg of which you fit freely, you can sew such a stylish dress.

Everything is done very simply. Put one leg on the body, the other on the arm.

Mark the width of the bottom of the sleeve.

Model the line of the sleeve. Sew from the bottom of the leg to the lower convergence of the middle seams of the pants.

Cut off excess fabric, finish the edge.

We sew a dress from jeans

The simplest dress will turn out if you cut the crotch of the jeans and unfold them so that side seams were in the middle, and stepping on the sides. From above we draw straight lines as in the figure. We sew the seams. Then we customize the figure.

You can also sew canvases from stripes cut from several pairs of jeans. Then, from these canvases, sew a dress.

An interesting dress or cape made of jeans, made using the patchwork method.

The combination of jeans with another fabric will look original.

From one pair of jeans you can sew such a sundress.

To do this, you need to cut the middle and crotch. Draw lines as in the photo. Cut along these lines. These pieces will be the middle seams of the front and back. The belt will be at the bottom of the sundress. You can add fabric in the middle.

You can also safely combine different colors jeans, do not process the armholes and the neck of the dress, make scuffs.

Finishing and back material

Where to put old jeans? Probably, sooner or later, such a question arises before every fan of this clothing. Favorite jeans are often worn literally to holes, and one day the moment of parting comes: it will no longer be possible to pass off the resulting holes as a fashionable and stylish decor, patches will not help either ...

I have a lot of such disused denim clothes. The hand does not rise to throw away, because the fabric, with the exception of individual leaky parts, is very durable, and it can be given a second life by turning old things into new ones - practical, beautiful and useful. I'm looking for ideas! Who is with me?

1. Kitchen potholders

Let's start with the simplest, accessible even to novice needlewomen or very busy hostesses. I myself, for example, am unlikely to dare to do something big right away, but on the little things ... Moreover, there are never many tacks in the kitchen!

There are never too many grips!

They can be made quite concise and practical, or they can be decorated with embroidery or appliqué and turned into an element of kitchen decor - everything is in our hands. It's a very tempting idea to use the part with pockets: look at what wonderful mittens you get (photo on the top right).

2. Table setting accessories

If we already started with the kitchen theme, let's develop it. How do you like these napkins and cutlery pockets?

It seems to me that for a country picnic or a youth party - what you need! It turns out fresh, original and stylish, do you agree?

And again, sewing such accessories is easy and fast, if there was a sewing machine at hand. Well, if you wish, the idea can be developed indefinitely: combine fabrics, decorate pockets with appliqué, add lace, and so on...

3. Wall organizer for small items

Another practical and quite simple idea. A young fashionista, a mother-needlewoman, and a teenager-student have enough of all the very necessary little things that I would like to organize in order - a convenient wall organizer made of durable denim will help everyone to put things in order and keep the necessary things at hand.

A creative approach to creating this interior detail is only welcome. It is not at all necessary to make an organizer in the form of a simple rectangle - cats also look great. You can play with the shape or location of the pockets, use different decorative elements- it all depends on the desire and skills of the craftswoman, there are no restrictions!

There are no strict rules either - such an organizer can and should be customized for yourself. I think this idea will come in handy in the country too - for storing bags of seeds, gloves, small tools (such as secateurs or scissors). Denim fabric is durable, reliable, washable well, if anything...

In general, such devices for storing small items are universal - they can find a place in the hallway, and in the kitchen, and in the bathroom, and in the nursery, and in the office ...

If only there were enough reserves for all ideas! The list of ideas is just beginning...

4. Organizer for remotes on the sofa

And for this purpose, old jeans are the best fit (of course, provided that such material is combined with the interior of your home).

The number and size of pockets depends on the needs, but the decor can be chosen according to taste and mood - not necessarily lace, as in the photo.

5. Decorative pillows

What else should be on the couch? Of course, pillows! The more - the better: it is so convenient to put them on all sides in order to comfortably read a book, do needlework or watch TV ...

Practical or decorative? What do you choose?

I really love pillows, so this idea interested me. I’m not sure, however, that I’m ready to work on complex and sophisticated decor, but simple and practical models, in my opinion, also look good.

Well, the pillows just ask for a suitable addition - a spectacular denim bedspread or a plaid, do you agree?

6. Plaid or bedspread

This is my old dream. I think I already have enough stocks of jeans for a large bedspread - it remains to choose the right idea and find the time to implement it.

However, even if there is not enough denim, this is not a reason to abandon the idea: a colorful plaid made of multi-colored shreds looks no worse than a strict and concise one. Just the selection of accessories and furnishings should be appropriate.

And by the way, as a blanket, I think the combined version is even more successful: after all, denim is quite heavy and rough. For a bedspread, this is normal, but I want to make a blanket softer, more comfortable ...

7. Mat

If the bed is adorned with a denim bedspread and the sofa has a pile of denim pillows, perhaps they should be complemented with a matching rug. Is it logical?

Moreover, here the scope for creativity is even wider: you can not be limited to patchwork products alone. Even those who do not know how to sew will easily find the right technique for themselves to create a chic denim rug.

Although, I confess, until I saw the photos, it didn’t even occur to me that old jeans could be cut into ribbons, so that later they could be knitted, weaved, weaved a charming rug. At first, my imagination did not advance beyond the patchwork, but now new horizons have opened up for it!

8. Furniture covers

Those who easily overcame rugs and bedspreads are no longer afraid to swing at furniture covers, or even start upholstering old sofas or armchairs. Maybe in your country house a future furniture masterpiece has been waiting for a long time to be reworked?

Yes, I agree that denim furniture is not an idea for every home. It is very specific and requires the appropriate environment. It's not even a style - it's a way of life. But you must admit, these samples are impressive!

In the end, you can not take on large furniture - limit yourself to small, but very useful items. Such as an ottoman, for example.

What, you don't need an ottoman? And what about the lampshade?

Or here is a cover on the back of a working chair with pockets for a tablet and a smartphone - it just won me over. Original, convenient and at the same time not difficult at all.

In the end, if you don’t imagine such furniture in your city apartment, but you like the idea, maybe it’s worth updating the country interior? For example, sew denim covers for stools or chairs...

9. Cover and organizer mat for a sewing machine

By the way, about the covers ... Perhaps it's time to take care of our hard worker, without whom all these wonderful things cannot be created - a sewing machine. Well, a little about myself. A cover for your assistant and a convenient organizer rug for scissors and other tools can also be sewn from old jeans.

And then complete the set with a suitable pincushion and a basket for needlework:

A well-organized workplace makes work easy and comfortable, and cute accessories improve mood, don't you agree?

10. Phone case

Continuing the theme of covers, you can’t ignore phones, smartphones and tablets. Now most of us cannot imagine our lives without these gadgets, and a convenient case for each of them is an absolute must.

Of course, you can buy ready-made. And you can sew a suitable one with your own hands. From old jeans, yes. In my opinion, this topic deserves attention.

The idea in the photo on the right captivated me. I think everyone has experienced this situation: a short charger cord - and no furniture near the only free outlet. A pocket from old jeans helps to solve the problem easily and elegantly.

11. Bag or backpack

Denim bags and backpacks are classics of the genre. This is where fantasy can roam to its fullest! I myself am a supporter of concise and practical options, but I look at all sorts of exotics with interest. For me, the main advantage of such “avoseks” is their strength, the rest are pleasant bonuses.

For young people, as far as I can tell from my offspring, backpacks are preferable. Sewing a good backpack is a little more difficult than a regular bag, but the convenience is worth the effort.

For those whose favorite clothes are jeans, this backpack is perfect. Make the youngest as a gift for the New Year, or something ...

12. Jewelry and accessories

Young fashionistas may be interested in denim jewelry- original earrings, necklaces, bracelets, beads, brooches that you can make with your own hands.

As holiday decoration they are unlikely to fit, it is more of an everyday option. And new year gift for a sister or girlfriend, it can turn out to be successful.

13. Cover for an album, diary, notebook

Yes, the holidays are around the corner. There will also be such things great gift- for yourself, your beloved, or a colleague, or a grown daughter - I am sure that many will easily find in their environment those who will like such a present.

Pockets on the cover are useful for putting pens and pencils, and a convenient clasp for a puffy photo album comes out of the jeans belt.

The cover can be made removable, or you can make a stylish denim binding for a finished or homemade notebook, album, diary.

14. Gift wrapping

Why not? For example, a bag for a bottle of sparkling wine from the leg of old jeans comes out wonderful. It will take quite a bit of time to make such a decor, but it looks original.

By the same principle, it is easy to make, for example, a bag for a sweet gift. Can you decorate denim cardboard box for your presentation. There are many options, and I think we will return to this topic - closer to the New Year.

15. Wicker basket

This idea made an impression with its unexpectedness. Although, if rugs are knitted from denim ribbons, why not weave baskets ... And by the way, they can also be used as gift wrapping.

I don’t know how convenient and practical it is, but it’s interesting - no doubt. Or maybe someone has already made similar baskets? What did you use them for?

16. Toys and souvenirs

An excellent gift - a soft toy, sewn with your own hands. For example, a funny mouse is a symbol of the coming year. Or even an entire mouse family.

It is clear that skills are needed for such crafts - Stuffed Toys not every needlewoman will undertake to sew. On the other hand, why not learn? After all, it's so great!

Anyway, simple models- like an elephant or the same mice - even not very experienced craftswomen will be able to do it.
