It is celebrated annually, on the same date - April 7th. On this day, the Archangel Gabriel brought the Good News to the Virgin Mary that the Lord had blessed Her to become the Mother of the Son of God. A humble, innocent and deeply religious girl trusted God and agreed to take on a great mission.

Laughter prolongs our lives!

Researchers still do not know how this comic festival arose. According to the most popular version, the inhabitants of Medieval France became the founders of this day. Five centuries ago, the ruler of the Franks, Charles IX, decided to replace the Victorian chronology with the Gregorian. Before the above transition took effect, the French celebrated the arrival of the New Year on March 25, tied to the new agricultural year. The celebrations lasted a whole week, ending on the first of April.

After the reform, some Franks, out of ignorance, continued to celebrate New Year according to the old style. Progressive residents of the country ridiculed them - the holidays passed two weeks ago! Since then, a tradition has arisen to give each other comic April Fools' gifts and arrange pranks. Over time, the holiday has taken root in the calendar of many countries: the French, British, Scots, Mexicans, Americans, Ukrainians, Belarusians and Russians are happy to indulge in April Fools' fun.

2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Treaty

This holiday has been added to the calendar. Russian Federation recently. In 2017, the anniversary will be celebrated - 20 years since the signing of the Treaty on the Commonwealth of Belarus and Russia, which marked the process of integration of fraternal peoples in the field of economics and politics. The Organization has its Charter, joint governing bodies and a far-reaching strategy for the development of a comprehensive integration process.

It has already been partially implemented by the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State signed in 1999 and the project of a common customs zone. In this memorable date conferences are held in the Russian Federation and Belarus, round tables, concert events and festivals are organized to establish intercultural communication, scientific and political dialogue.

The Feast of the Annunciation falls on April 7

One of the most revered holidays by Christians, designed to remind us of the strength and depth of the Christian faith, the triumph of humility, the victory of innocence over sinful human nature. According to Scripture, it was on this day that the Virgin Mary received the good news brought to her by the archangel Gabriel. He announced to the Blessed Virgin that she was destined to become the mother of the Son of God, whose mission would be the salvation of the human race.

On the Annunciation, the Orthodox can relax the strict prescriptions by eating fish dishes. In each temple, magnificent services are held. Our ancestors left on this day any, even the most urgent work. Under a particularly strict ban is sewing, embroidery, knitting and even braiding. This is explained by the fact that the right to control the life thread belongs only to heavenly angels. In the Annunciation, the risk increases that a person will confuse one of the threads, inviting quarrels, misfortunes and troubles on himself and his relatives.

Willow branches - an essential attribute of the holiday

Another important religious holiday, in which Christians around the world celebrate the entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. Jewish traditions say that any king and ruler must enter the city on a horse or donkey, while people are supposed to greet him with palm leaves. This is how Jesus Christ entered the city, whom the people recognized as their Blessed King.

With the advent of Christianity in Russia, believers began to celebrate this date, but the leaves of palm trees that do not grow in a temperate climate had to be replaced with willow branches. This plant was chosen as a symbol of the holiday for a reason - for the Slavs it was identified with tenderness, maternal love, care and patience. On this day, they can diversify their menu with fish dishes and drink a glass of wine in honor of the holiday.

The feat of Yuri Gagarin is not forgotten to this day

In the Soviet Union, this day has been a holiday date since 1962, marking the triumph of human courage. In 1968, the conference of the International Aviation Federation assigned him the status of an international solemn date. The entire population of Russia remembers the first step of man in the exploration of outer space - the orbital flight on the Vostok spacecraft, made by Yuri Gagarin. Two years before Gagarin's heroic flight, astronaut dogs, the world-famous Belka and Strelka, were sent into the sky, and then a man took over the baton.

And in the 21st century, in the orbit of the Earth, great amount artificial satellites, rovers explore the secrets of the Red Planet, several soil samples were taken from the Moon, and automatic ships fly beyond the solar system, carrying a welcoming word to representatives of extraterrestrial civilizations. On this memorable date, thematic exhibitions, scientific conferences, symposiums, lectures and expositions are held, designed to convey to people the importance and significance of space research.

Christ's Resurrection in 2017 falls on April 16

On April 16, all Orthodox will celebrate one of the most important religious holidays -. This day recalls the victory of life over death and the triumph of the Christian faith over unbelief. According to historical chronicles, Easter is one of the oldest Christian celebrations - it was celebrated in ancient times, when the disciples of Christ and his apostles were alive. For all Orthodox, it is obligatory to attend the night service, where they remember the miracle of the Resurrection.

Scripture says that on the third day after Jesus was martyred, he rose from the dead and left the cave without disturbing the stone that had sealed it. Suddenly, the earth trembled, and an angel appeared to the people, who rolled off a stone block from the tomb of Christ. The guards, beside themselves with fear, rushed to run. At this time, myrrh-bearing women approached the cave, wishing to anoint the body of the martyr with incense. The absence of Christ led them into confusion, but the angel explained to those close to Jesus that the Son of God had risen.

Believers on this day sanctify Easter cakes, wine and painted eggs, and one of them must be red, in memory of the blood spilled by the Savior. After the service, the whole family gathers for festive table to congratulate each other on the arrival of the long-awaited holiday and break the fast after a long and strict fast.

2017 will mark the anniversary of the battle on Lake Peipsi

One of the significant dates in the history of the Slavic people. On this day, 775 years ago, Alexander Nevsky won a victory over the hordes of hitherto invincible German soldiers on Lake Peipus. It all started in 1240, when the Livonians, after a successful attack, captured Pskov and Koporye. Alexander arrived in the city of Novgorod and gave the order to launch a counterattack, recapturing the city from the Germans and capturing many prisoners. This battle became decisive in the liberation of the Russian land from the invaders, and the fame of the deeds of the Russian soldiers thundered throughout the country. Now this day bears the proud name of the Day of Military Glory of Russia.

Donors are the real saviors of thousands of lives

Every year on this day, Russians celebrate an important social date by honoring donors who donate blood for the sake of health and saving the lives of others. The history of the holiday dates back to 1832, when a young St. Petersburg obstetrician Andrei Volf performed a blood transfusion on a dying woman in labor from her husband.

Many years have passed since then, but the cause of donation remains just as important. Every year, more than 1.5 million people in Russia are in need of donated blood. To solve this problem, in 2013 Russia launched a program to revive the donor movement. On this day, many cities initiate exhibitions, conferences and events that promote donation and talk about this honorable mission.

April 26 - Day of Remembrance for those killed in radiation disasters

The echoes of the Chernobyl tragedy excite many to this day

A sad day in the history of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. 31 years ago, on this day, a terrible catastrophe occurred - one of the power units of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. The consequences of this accident are still being experienced by many. It is estimated that about 8.5 million people living in the three countries received radiation exposure.

Most often, spring is expected as a harbinger of summer, the hottest time of the year, but this season is full of pleasant moments. Of course, you will not have additional free and weekends in April 2017, but this month will give you several pleasant holidays at once and. These days you can both gather at a large table with the whole family, and spend time with friends on a picnic, because the sun is already diligently warming the earth.

Weekend in April 2017 in Russia

There is still a whole month before the most beloved spring holidays, but you should not despair. In April, there is also something to do. So the month starts with World Day Laughter, when everyone can play a joke on their friend, colleague or boss with absolute impunity, turning everything into a feature of the day.

Or celebrate together with the whole country the day when a person first went to explore space. After all, this was the beginning of a new era in the development of flight technology and science in general. And although today few children dream of becoming an astronaut, flights to other galaxies do not cease to tempt true dreamers. And fantasy writers.

Christians in April 2017 will also celebrate Easter, which falls on Sunday, April 16, according to the solar-lunar calendar. Traditions have a bright day they call on everyone to glorify the day when the Savior Jesus resurrected after a terrible execution on Mount Calvary.

Also, holidays in April 2017 will allow you to remember the historical details of one of the greatest battles on Lake Peipus. The legend, passed from mouth to mouth, today has found both historical confirmation and embodiment in many works. contemporary art: cinema, paintings, books.

World Laughter Day - April 1

So school years we are familiar with the saying: “I don’t trust anyone on the first of April,” and, nevertheless, we often fall for the tricks of friends, which causes laughter and joy from those around us. Or we ourselves become the very joker who will amuse the whole office or family. Meanwhile, few people know that the holiday came to us from medieval France.

Legend tells that after Charles IX introduced the Gregorian calendar in the country, there were those who confused - or simply forgot - that the celebration of the New Year was postponed by as much as two weeks. By the way, the change of the year was then celebrated at the end of March, tied to the beginning of agricultural work. And the festival itself lasted exactly a week, ending just on the first of April. The residents, who had already managed to celebrate the New Year and exchange gifts, ridiculed the ignoramuses. And since then, the tradition has gone on April 1 to make fun of friends, to give all sorts of funny little things and practical jokes.

Time passed and the tradition was adopted not only by neighboring countries, but also by overseas countries. England, America, Mexico are happy to hold fairs and carnivals these days, arrange concerts or flash mobs. For children, this is one of the most favorite holidays in April 2017.

Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus - April 2

After the collapse of the Union, many former republics faced a difficult choice of further development path, because it was necessary to practically rebuild the entire economic and political system. But the far-sighted leaders of the then Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on the Commonwealth in advance, thanks to which the countries provide economic and political support to each other.

Under this agreement, a single customs zone has also been established between the countries, which greatly simplifies the conduct of business both between citizens of countries and between large state structures. But the purpose of the agreement is not only assistance in these areas, but also cultural integration, support for innovative projects, exchange of experience. Therefore, conferences, festivals and concerts, exhibitions of folk art are often held as a celebration of the signing of the Treaty. The holiday does not apply to days off in April 2017, but is dearly loved by the citizens of both participating countries.

Annunciation - April 7

The Annunciation refers to 12 major holidays churches (after Easter, of course), as they relate important events from the earthly life of Jesus and his mother the Virgin Mary. And yet, this is not a day off in April 2017, although zealous Christians put aside all their affairs, devote time to prayer and reading the Gospel of the Apostle Luke, who describes this event in detail.

As Scripture tells, the archangel Gabriel informed the Virgin Mary that the fate of the mother of the Savior awaited her, appearing to her on a fine spring day. The holiday got its name precisely because of this event - the good news for all mankind was proclaimed.

On this holiday, fasting people are allowed to supplement their diet with fish. But on the contrary, any housework is prohibited, especially for women, associated with threads: sewing, knitting, embroidery. And young girls are not even allowed to braid. This is due to the fact that it is believed that fate is being accomplished on this day, and only angels know the fate of people, while the person himself can confuse these threads and invite trouble on himself and his relatives.

Palm Sunday - April 9

Often associated, or rather confused, this holiday in April 2017 in Russia with pagan traditions. Meanwhile, it has very deep Christian roots.

Thus, the Gospels describe the day of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. This is exactly what the Orthodox celebrate on Sunday. The holiday has two meanings at once: the recognition of Jesus as the Savior and King, and a certain symbolism - the entry of a person into Paradise. Everyone expected the arrival of the savior, and how exactly he entered the city was of particular importance. According to Jewish tradition, only the king enters the city on horseback and greets him with palm branches, which are placed under his feet and on his shoulders. It is also important on what animal a person enters. The donkey means peaceful intentions, the horse means to be at war. Jesus entered the Jerusalem gates on a young donkey and palm leaves and branches were placed at his feet.

Since in our latitudes one cannot find a palm tree with fire during the day, it was replaced with a willow, and on a holiday they sanctify and decorate houses with young willow branches with tender leaves. Later, they also became a symbol of the tenderness and purity of the Virgin Mary, who was with her son.

World Cosmonautics Day - April 12

Young people learn about space flights from movies, news or the World Wide Web, but back in 1961 it was truly a global significance. For the first time, not a robot, not animals (the world-famous dogs Belka and Strelka), but a man went into space! A real breakthrough in space exploration. And even if Gagarin had only to fly around the Earth, then it was tantamount to a revolution.

A contemporary of the cosmonaut is told that he was not the main contender for the flight, but even being a reserve, he prepared very diligently and approached the matter with all seriousness and responsibility. He had already experienced flying vehicles, but never spaceships. The day he said the famous "Let's go!" and his spaceship "Vostok" took off from the earth went down in history and became a national, and then world, holiday.

Previously, it was a day off, but over time, the meaning of the holiday changed in April 2017 in Russia, the weekend was canceled. But now symposiums and science fairs, conferences and exhibitions are held, documentaries are shown and educational lectures are held, dedicated to astronautics in general and Gagarin's contribution to its development as a whole.

Easter - April 16

Light is the most important religious holiday among Christians around the world. History says that it was celebrated during the lifetime of most of the apostles, and therefore the traditions and canons of this holiday are considered the most ancient and strict. Among all the weekends of April 2017 and holidays, this one is perhaps the most anticipated.

According to scripture, Jesus left the tomb in which he was buried and guarded without moving the stone that locked it. He resurrected on the third day after his martyrdom on Mount Golgotha, where he ascended in a crown of thorns and with a cross behind his shoulders. The news of his return to life was brought by an angel, who opened the cave. The guards fled in horror, and the women who went to anoint the body of Jesus with oils and spices received the news with joy and told it to all the believers.

By tradition, on this day, Christians attend a night service, where the day of the Resurrection of the Lord is glorified, and they also sanctify festive Easter cakes, colorful eggs and red wine, usually Cahors. It is believed that at least one of the eggs should be red, as a symbol of the blood that was shed by the Lord. Easter is preceded by Holy Week, and Friday - the day of the death of Jesus - is the strictest day of fasting. But on Sunday, fasting comes to an end and believers can break their fast, having tasted, first of all, Easter cake, an egg and wine.

Anniversary of the Ice Battle - April 18

One of the legendary days in the history of the Russian people. Alexander Nevsky, the great commander, sought to liberate the Russian lands from the invaders, and therefore, having arrived in Novgorod more than 770 years ago, he gave the order not only to hold the defense, but also to counterattack the opponents. The battle on Lake Peipsi became decisive in a difficult war. German warriors, dressed in heavy metal armor, fell into a trap and one by one went under the ice. Those who managed to escape were taken prisoner. The details of the battle are studied at school in the general course of history, and the day itself is proudly called the Day of Military Glory of the Russian Federation.

Donor Day - April 20

A socially important day adds to the list of weekends and holidays in April 2017. Donor Day is celebrated on the 20th only in Russia and this date is enshrined in the relevant regulatory legal act.

The first blood transfusion operation was performed by a young progressive obstetrician in 1832, when a woman in labor was dying on his table. He made an unheard-of decision for that time - to transfuse her husband's blood.

Today, blood transfusion is an ordinary resuscitation measure for those who have suffered serious injuries or blood loss. But the number of those in need is growing every year, while the stocks of the blood bank are not enough for everyone. In order to popularize donation, a holiday was established. Activists hold actions and events designed to tell the public about the importance and necessity of donation.

Day of Remembrance for those killed in radiation disasters - April 26

A terrible day in the history of countries former USSR- the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, when as a result of the explosion of one of the power units of the station there was a huge release of radiation particles. According to estimates, more than eight and a half million people who lived in the immediate vicinity of the power plant, as well as in the path of the radiation cloud, suffered from the accident and its consequences.
