Patch on knitted pants for an adult and a child))))

We need:

  • Sewing machine
  • Machine knitting needle
  • Sewing threads
  • Scissors
  • A small piece of fleece
  • patch fabric

Our actions:

  • We rip the seam near the hole. Photo 1.

  • In this model, the seam between the legs is stitched with a finishing knitted line, so I do not flog it. But, if there is no finish, we unpick the second one. Photo 2.

  • We iron the hole with an iron so that it shrinks.
  • We impose a piece of interlining (adhesive side to the material). Photo 3.

  • We iron with an iron, gluing it, thereby strengthening the torn place from the wrong side.

  • We thread the threads into the machine according to the color of the base material, darn a hole on the front side. We perform all actions through a previously ripped seam.

  • On both legs, we mark with soap or chalk, and then we mark the lines - the boundaries of our patch. Photo 2.5.
    We select the right fabric. In this case, it will be visible.

Fabric requirements:

  • Average density
  • Not tough
  • Color optional

I picked up a contrasting costume fabric.
Since we are making patches on both legs, we need two suitable pieces of fabric. The size is slightly larger than the hole.

  • We glue from the inside with interlining, thereby making the fabric stronger. Sample 6.

  • On the front side, we try on, putting it on the leg, mark with chalk a line along which the patch will be sewn with an inner seam. Sample 7.

If it is possible to open the seam on both sides, then there is no need to mark the line for the inside.

  • We transfer the marked line to the wrong side.
  • We apply the front side of the fabric to the upper part of the leg, combining the seam and the chalk line. We stab with needles, tack and sew on the machine. We do everything using the side ripped seam. Sample 8.

  • From the outside of the leg, we bend the upper and lower edges of the patch, we sweep, we sew finishing seam. Sample 9.

  • We cut off the excess fabric with scissors, turning the leg inside out. We build, overcast with an overlock. Sample 10−11.

We are at the finish line. All is ready.

This is what training looks like from the inside out. Sample 11.

And this is the view from the front. Sample 12.

You've probably seen patches like this before. On children's jeans, they look very funny. I did a master class on them for one of the summer issues of the magazine "Marusya" and at the same time repaired our family jeans. All of my kids have worn these amazing pants. And only on the third child they were slightly torn at the knee.

Who ruined the pants?
- Patch monsters that eat cloth. Especially delicious fabric is located somewhere in the area of the knees.

Carefully cut out the part of the leg around the hole in the form open mouth. Prepare a piece of tissue for the patch a little larger than the "mouth".

To make it more convenient to work, glue this piece with a glue thermal web. The web is needed only for temporary fastening of the fabric. If you do not sew the patch with thread, it will peel off over time.

The teeth of a patch monster can be made from a braid of a bindweed (aka a snake or a zig-zag).

Lay the braid around the edge of the "mouth" and baste. Sew along the edge of the mouth. You can sew by hand or with a sewing machine.

The monster's eyes can be drawn using fabric markers or acrylic paints for fabric.

And here is a patch option on knitted pants. It should be noted that these pants did not last long after sewing on the patch, so it’s probably not worth repairing worn knees on knitted pants. Now, if the holes are not in the area of the knees, then you can try.

You can do without a cobweb. Pin the patch with pins. In this case, be sure to baste the patch with threads, otherwise the fabric may move out during sewing.

Teeth can be made in another way. Cut a few pieces of white fabric, fold them diagonally, and then in three more layers, as if you were going to cut a six-rayed snowflake. Iron your teeth. Here, too, you can use a thermal web so that the fabric does not unfold.

While children grow up, clothes not only quickly become small for them, but also wear out with the speed of light. It would seem that I recently bought pajama pants for my daughter and now holes are gaping on my knees, because of which they immediately came into an unsightly appearance and I don’t want to dress my child in such a rag, even at home.

But there is one simple way to revive torn pants and save the family budget from waste, which I will share with you today. This is not a simple master class on how to sew a patch on a knee on a typewriter. After such a repair, the pants, one might say, will become designer and you can show off them to your friends. After all, they will look just wow, and the child will not be able to bear them for a long time!

What did I need to sew a patch on my knee on a typewriter

  • jersey fabric - 20 cm.
  • adhesive fabric - 20 cm.
  • thread black 1 spool
  • sewing tool - scissors, ruler, sheet of A4 paper, pencil, chalk, ripper

How to sew a patch on a knee on a typewriter step by step

1. I lay out my pants on the table and measure the distance at which I want to put the patch. In my case, you need to close an area of \u200b\u200b13 cm.

2. I rip the side seam on the leg - this is a segment of about 20 cm, through this place I will sew a patch.

3. I take unnecessary scraps of fabric, I have this knitwear left over from an old sweater, juicy tangerine color. As I said above, these will be unusual patches, these will be the faces of animals. The chanterelle is most suitable for my fabric color, I draw a drawing on the sheet, which should be 13 cm in size - to close all the holes on the knee.

4. I glue the pieces of knitwear from the wrong side with an adhesive cloth for strength, as well as to avoid shedding along the edges.

5. I fix paper template on the fabric, I cut out two patches.

6. I draw on front side using a tailor's chalk drawing, repeating it from a paper template.

7. On sewing machine I sew chalk lines with black thread, creating an outline of the picture.

8. I tie knots at the ends, erase the chalk lines with wet gauze.

9. I fix the patches on my pants with tailor's pins.

10. Through the side seam, I sew patches on the knees of my pants on a sewing machine. At the same time, I retreat from the edge of the patch by 1 mm.

It remains to sew up the side seam, and the updated pants are ready for active and games!

This is how the muzzles of chanterelles look on ready-made pants, my daughter was simply delighted with the new look of her home clothes. Are you trying to update a damaged item or take it to the trash?

It is common for a modern person to throw away things that have lost their presentation. Even if a single spot or a small snag appears on the clothes, it often ends up in the trash can.

But is it really necessary to get rid of good clothes that can last a few more seasons if the defect can be fixed on your own? After all, many of us have already forgotten that torn clothes can be darned and patched: this will save the family and budget and not clutter up the wardrobe with an abundance of things.

In today's article, we will tell you how you can repair torn jeans with patches. You will learn some simple and effective ways repair trousers that even a novice needlewoman can handle.

We remove holes

The technology for making patches will vary slightly, depending on where the jeans are torn. Usually pants are torn in places that are subject to friction or stretching.

Most often - these are the knees and the area between the legs. If in the first case the patch is noticeable, even if it is made very carefully, then a patch can be sewn between the legs so that no one will guess about its presence.

It is best to sew a patch on a sewing machine - so you can do the job as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the model of the unit is absolutely not important - be it an old mechanical machine that you inherited from your grandmother or a modern computer-controlled device.

In addition to the sewing machine, you will need:

  • a piece of denim in a suitable color;
  • threads in tone;
  • scissors;
  • set of safety pins.

Between the legs

Before you start the main work, you need to give the hole a neater look.

To do this, cut off the protruding long threads from its edges. Then the edges of the gap must be swept together so that it does not continue to increase in size. We do it manually. Stitches should be quite frequent, but wide.

Sew not tight: there should not be any creases in the fabric or a hard, protruding seam in place of the hole. The torn area must be made as smooth and even as possible.

Now we turn on the sewing machine, thread the thread and proceed to the piece (this is the name of the process of sewing on a patch). We select the zigzag mode and lay lines over the entire surface of the patch.

You need to try to make lines as close as possible to each other. It is most convenient to use the reverse function for this; if this is not provided for on your unit, you will have to start the line every time from the beginning.

At the end of the work, we fix and cut the thread.

On the knee

In the area of \u200b\u200bthe knees, jeans are most often torn in children who do not sit still for a minute. It would be a real waste to buy new trousers every time such a nuisance occurs, because a damaged item can be easily and quickly repaired with your own hands.

A knee patch, even if done with great skill, will almost certainly be noticeable on closer inspection. Therefore, we offer you a way to mend jeans, in which the patch becomes a stylish design element.

For this you need a cut denim contrasting shade. For example, patches of bright blue denim will look spectacular on black jeans. You can cut a suitable piece from an old denim item that you definitely won't be wearing anymore.

  1. So, the first thing to do is to decide on the size of the patch and cut out a suitable fragment.
  2. The patch should be as wide as a trouser leg, and long enough - about 15 cm. If it is difficult for you to cut the part out of the fabric evenly the first time, first make a paper pattern. Do not forget to make a small hem allowance - about 0.5 cm.
  3. Fold the patch around the edges and baste.
  4. Now you can sew it to the leg. It is most convenient to do this on a sewing machine, but you can also do it manually.
  5. A similar method involves the presence of such inserts on two legs - this way the result looks more complete and aesthetic. So do the same on the other leg.

If you have a large piece of leather, it can also be used as knee patches.

What material can be used for the patch?

There is not always a suitable piece of denim at home, and spending time buying a few centimeters of denim in a sewing store is completely inappropriate.

However experienced needlewomen came up with several options way out of the situation. Let's consider the most interesting of them.

We use "native" fabric

The easiest way to find a fabric that matches the color and texture is to cut a piece out of the very jeans that need to be repaired. But you need to choose a place in which the absence of a fragment of material will not be noticeable.

The only such section of jeans is the place under the back pockets. From here you can borrow a little material without prejudice to the general appearance products.

Instead of the cut out fragment, you can sew any other fabric, because the inside of the pockets is invisible to others. The main thing is to choose a fairly dense material and firmly stitch the jeans from the wrong side.

We use glue

Adhesive fabric, which is also called a “spider line”, can only be used when we are not dealing with through holes, but with strong scuffs that are about to turn into holes.

  • The section of jeans that needs to be strengthened with adhesive material must first be steamed and ironed well.
  • Then a small piece of cobweb is glued using the same iron.
  • It is recommended to fix the result by stitching the worn place on the sewing machine with a zigzag stitch.
  • Threads must be chosen to match the main material of the product.

How to sew decorative patches?

As we said above, a patch can serve more than just a practical function: it can also be part of a design that gives a piece a personality. This is especially true for children's things, which should be beautiful and original.

There are many ways to create unusual patches using various materials. Here are some of the most interesting and striking solutions:

  • turn holes on your knees into funny monsters;
  • make a cute applique on a torn place;
  • close the hole using patchwork elements;
  • sew on many small patches instead of one large one;
  • mask small holes with embroidery.
