How to crochet a cap

I do not like knitting patterns, which are directly related to the density of knitting. I prefer to knit patterns than according to the schemes.

That is why I decided to look for cap pattern for a newborn and soon I succeeded.

I present to your attention the scheme I have built.

In the book in which I found this cap pattern, other, more complex ones, consisting of several parts, were also offered, but I chose this very one for knitting simple pattern, because the connected canvas is relatively easy to stretch and take the desired shape.

The upper part (33 cm) is divided into three equal parts (11 cm each), the same length segments are deposited at the very bottom of the scheme (11 cm each).

To knit I started crochet single crochet from top to bottom.

I used a special cap for knitting baby cotton.

It was very easy for me to knit, since the height of one row with my knitting density was exactly 0.5 cm.

Probably the most difficult thing is to make a decrease in order to tie a small rounding 2 cm high (see the diagram), it is easier to do this if you build a pattern, for example, on a newspaper and simply apply knitting to it, determining whether it is time to finish the row and move on to the next one.

The bend at the very bottom of the part (by 0.5 cm) delivers somewhat less problems.

This explains why the lowest stripe of yellow threads is the widest.

I connected the cap with a crochet hook and yellow threads.

I tied the bonnet around the bottom, from the same yellow threads I made strings(they seem more practical to me than a button or other fastening options).

Of course, before using it for its intended purpose, the cap must be washed with detergents for children (for example, soap) and ironed.

Decorate the bonnet can be done in a variety of ways: lace, ribbons, ruffles, embroidery or appliqué.

However, you should not be zealous in this direction, because for happy parents there is nothing more beautiful than the face of their newborn or newborn! :)

If you think that the ruffles will hang too loose, go along the hem, heels, with a needle and thread and pull it off a little.
you can try on a hat for anyone who has kids, I knitted 10 loops more, because I knitted this suit for 6-9 months and it depends on the yarn. My thread was medium thickness.

I embroidered the flowers with a knitting needle. Yes, if you need a larger size, we collect 65 loops and then add 10 = 75 in the last row. Of course, depending on what the pattern will be. Ties and decorative elements

A cap for a girl can be decorated with ruffles. To do this, loops are picked up along the edges of the bottom, restoring two new loops in place of each loop. They are knitted in a stocking way (purl row, facial row) to a width of several centimeters. After that, the loops are closed. Ruffles can be made double. Then the second of them is knitted in front of the first according to the same principle, but 1-2 cm shorter.

Another option for finishing is lace. Its basis will be a row of simple columns. In the next row, "shells" are knitted. To do this, make 5 double crochets, sticking a hook into the same loop of the previous row. The adjacent loop is knitted with a half-column, and the next one is skipped. After that, another "shell" is knitted. So they continue to the end of the row, adhering to the scheme: 5 double crochet, half-column, skip.

The boy's cap can be decorated with teeth. They are crocheted. First, a row of single crochets is knitted. In the second row, they begin to knit a pico: they make a chain of three air loops, then close it into a ring with a half-column, inserting a hook into the base of the chain. One clove is ready. Next, you need to make 1-2 single crochets, then perform the next pico, etc. Place the teeth around the bottom of the cap or along the border of the gum with the main pattern.

Caps are decorated with other interesting details - bows, beads, stripes, pompons. For these purposes, flowers, eyes, animals are crocheted, and bows or roses are made from ribbons. Also, the product can be embroidered with woolen threads or satin ribbons.

Ties can be made in several ways. For example, knit them together with the bottom edging. But this turns out to be a very wide canvas, which is inconvenient to work with. It is better to pick up a few loops along the edge of the edging and knit the ribbon of the desired length. Then do the same on the other side of the cap. The ties can also be crocheted by tying a simple chain or a series of single crochets. And you can get by with a small hinged eyelet and a button or sew on ribbons.
