Natalia Vasilenko

Spring is just coming, and people are already thinking about summer. They begin to purchase sunglasses, bathing suits, sundresses, sunscreen. Naturally, the same applies to shoes for the summer. Everyone is faced with the problem of purchasing summer shoes.

This is a rather difficult matter, but some are looking for certain companies, models, colors, others need the price to match the quality, and someone has a certain amount of money and is looking for shoes for it. As a result, it is not always possible to find a practical and comfortable pair for yourself. But I'm completely tired of wearing sandals, like my girlfriends. And there is no money for exclusive and designer stuff.

Therefore, use the opportunity to make sandals with your own hands. It is not necessary to be a shoemaker, as any girl can build sandals. After all, if there is a good sole, then you can create a real masterpiece using ribbons, leather, fabrics, crochet and other decor: stones, rhinestones, sequins.

How old flip-flops turn into beautiful sandals

On the eve of summer, you just need to know how unusual and comfortable sandals are made with your own hands. For production, you will need old slippers, elastic fabric, an awl, glue, scissors.

Work sequence:

 1. first, worn straps are cut off from old sandals;
 2. a strip of fabric is measured and cut off. It should be rather narrow and long so that it can wrap around the ankle, and more than once;
 3. holes remain from the straps on the slippers, so you should stretch the fabric cord into them and tie them on the sole itself using knots;
 4. on the side of the sole of the slap should be cut. In the resulting incisions, it will be necessary to insert fabric strips that hold the legs in the area of the toes. You should not make a very deep cut so that the footboard does not wear out so much;
 5. cut fabric strips wider. These strips will keep your toes in place. The approximate size is 8 cm by 20 cm. The length of the strips should be such that the legs do not dangle. In addition, it is necessary to leave somewhere 1.5 cm along the edges, they will fix the footboard;
 6. then you need to insert the fabric into the cuts in the sole, press it and fix the fabric with shoe glue;
 7. clamp the places where everything was glued with a vise and wait for it to dry.

Sandals can have a variety of models on the front: fabric strips can be crossed, the strip can be glued straight, and the strips can also be tied. In addition, it will be beautiful if you make jewelry from beads, embroidery, appliqués.

To make the price of sandals with your own hands turned out to be low, it is recommended to use simple and budget materials.

For this job, you must have:

 • sole. She can remain from already worn out shoes, flip flops, slippers. Worn insoles are also used;
 • material for the upper part of the sandals. This includes pieces of old leather, dense fabrics. The top is knitted or crocheted. An old belt will also work if it has the right shape. Sandals made in this way will be unusual, the foot will always feel comfortable. The belt can be leather or other material;
 • nylon threads, scissors, needle;
 • shoe glue, superglue. You can also contact a shoemaker for gluing and joining seams;
 • sandals can be decorated with decorative elements and auxiliary materials: rivets, buttons, beads.

First, the sole is taken, gets rid of everything that is left on it, for example, the straps from old shoes are cut off. With a soft footboard, it is carefully cut into two halves, divided into layers. The result is two parts for each of the legs. Alternatively, incisions are made at the place where the top will join.

If a regular insole is used or cut out of linoleum, then two parts are made, one for each foot. Then the top is tried on with one of the layers of the footboard. Here you need to include fantasy, experiment. If there is a desire, then you can get an extraordinary result.

The belt buckle at the top of the sandals looks original. If she is on one of the legs, it looks unusual. Therefore, you should not complex. A fabric top or crocheted is also used. These shoes can be worn both outdoors and at home.

If these are home slippers, then they can be the same color as the bathrobe. A belt is taken, the leg is wrapped around it in the area of the fingers, as well as the sole, the required length is noted. The top layer is sewn into a ring according to the marks. The ring is glued or sewn onto the footrest itself. After the upper part of the sole is connected to the bottom, stitched, glued. It is better to use contrasting threads so that the shoes look spectacular. But this is recommended for home slippers, because when walking on asphalt, the threads are erased.

If a dense sole is used, then the top is simply glued into a ring with the bottom. Of course, the sole will not look very elegant, but this will not affect the quality of homemade shoes.

If the sole is cut, then the top is inserted into the holes and sealed. When the sole is very soft, it is good to sew the product with threads, making the seam as strong as possible. If everything is left, then slippers are obtained, and to make sandals come out, you can use straps made from the remnants of the belt. They are glued down to the sole, stitched, a fastener is sewn on, holes are made for fastening with an awl.

Creation of wedge shoes

To make creative and inexpensive do-it-yourself wedge sandals, you will need:

 • cardboard;
 • straps;
 • insole material.

A footboard is glued from cardboard in several layers according to a pre-prepared pattern. The finished sole is painted in the desired color. The straps are glued, which are the upper part, then the insole is glued. Of course, such shoes will be short-lived, and you can’t get caught in the rain in it. But it can be made bright, unusual, original. And its main advantage is that it is inexpensive.

Shoes for girls are an eternal problem for moms. The child's leg grows quickly, but this is not the most important thing. The formation of her gait and posture depends on the comfort of the shoes in which the daughter walks and learns the world around her. In order to secure running, walking and other joys of your child's movement, we have prepared for you a wonderful master class on how to sew children's sandals with your own hands.

Required materials and tools:

 • pieces of felt;
 • artificial leather (vinyl), which must be soft enough, otherwise it will then have to be stretched .;
 • sewing materials.

Making the sole

In order to make the sole of our children's sandals with your own hands, take the shoes that your daughter wears for the template. Cut out two identical but symmetrical ovals from leather and one felt piece. All details are parts of one sandal. Fold the three pieces together so that the felt is between the vinyl and the vinyl pieces face out in both cases. Stitch the sole blank in several places. To prevent the layers from shifting, the first line must be done in the center.

Making an accordion

Then cut two strips of vinyl to create a strap that will sit over your toes. Sew them along both long edges together. For the center of our strap, cut a small strip. Stitch it on both sides. Now take a large strip and fold it in half, edges up, as shown in the photo. And then fold the edges one more time, in the other direction, so that you get a beautiful accordion.

We wrap the accordion

Wrap the middle of the accordion with a narrow strip of leather, bringing the ends of the strip to the wrong side. From the wrong side, cut off the excess from the strip and sew the edges. The result is a curved part of the top of the sandal, which, thanks to the curvature, will perfectly wrap around the child's leg.

Making a strap for the back

Now it's time to work on the strap that will hold the back of the foot, preventing the shoe from flying off it. To do this, cut out four strips of leather and cut off a piece from a wide elastic band. We place the end of the elastic band between two strips of leather and sew with two seams for reliability. We do the same with the other ends of the elastic. Remember to make sure that the right side of the leather is on the outside on both sides of the strap.

We sew the strap and attach it in place

Sew the straps around the entire perimeter. Now the crucial moment has come - it is necessary to correctly place the straps, especially those that will clasp the leg over the heel. If it is tight to the foot, then the shoes may cause discomfort to your child. If it is weak, then children's sandals created by their own hands will fly off.

Sew the details

Place your daughter's foot on the sole of future sandals and attach both straps to it. Mark the desired length of the strap and cut off the excess. Do not forget to make marks on the wide strap where the wraparound strap will be sewn. Spread the seams at these points and sew on the strap. Now place the strap on top of the sole. To correctly determine the junction of the sole with the belt, try the sandals on the girl again. Connect all the details and sew on a sewing machine at the very edge of the sole. Trim off the strap so that they end strictly on the edge of the sole.

Do-it-yourself children's sandals are ready!

Now we will process the outer edges of the sole, for this we cut out an oblique strip from the skin with a width that will allow us to fold it in half lengthwise. Fold the strip in half, put it on the edge of the sole, covering the raw edges. Stitch this strip, grabbing the bottom of the piping. To ensure that the bias leather trim lays down neatly, pull it slightly with even force. Trim off the excess so that the ends of the bias tape, cut at an angle, overlap the beginning by a few inches. Repeat all these steps to make your own children's sandals for the second leg. Ready!

"Gladiators" is one of the trends of this season. Let's make a couple for the summer!

Gladiator sandals and lace-up sandals are everywhere these days. And this is not surprising: such shoes are the main hit of the season along with platform sandals. As it always happens, what is fashionable is obscenely expensive and sold out so quickly that you won’t even have time to blink an eye!

If you haven’t managed to buy “gladiators” for yourself yet, we suggest making them yourself. Of course, these sandals will not last long. But who knows, maybe next season they will just go out of fashion?

Method 1

The easiest way to make gladiator sandals is to tie leather laces to your existing sandals.

T-strap sandals work best. You just have to pick up the laces to match the shoes, thread through the strap and tie around the leg.

This is perfect if you want gladiator sandals as part of your 70s summer look. For example, if you are going to a music festival or a theme party.

Method 2

This method will require a little more work. As a basis, you can take flip flops or old sandals, from which it is not a pity to cut off the straps.

So, you will need:

 • The basis for sandals (at your discretion).
 • Elastic band to make strap attachments.
 • Leather cord for straps. The width depends solely on your taste. If desired, you can use two cords of different thicknesses at the same time. The only requirement is that the material should be soft and not rub the skin.

1. Strap loops

If the basis is not mounts for straps, you will have to make them yourself. The optimal number of loops is five (1 in front in the center and 2 on each side).

Make holes with an awl and pull the elastic band through them to match the sole.

2. Thread the straps through the loops

Before cutting off the laces, thread them through the loops and tie around the leg. Chances are you'll need more cord than you thought!

Cut the string to size.

3. Be creative

If desired, a thin gauze scarf, ribbon or braid can be used as straps. The main thing is that you like it!

Shoes are very difficult. Probably, we would not dare to try to make shoes or boots. But sandals are different. They have a frivolous nature and a frivolous outlook on life. They are not so scary to take on. We tried and we succeeded! Today we will tell you how to make wonderful handmade sandals from cheap flip flops and scraps of leather.

We will need:

 • Cheap slippers;
 • Pieces of leather (two colors);
 • Scissors;
 • Glue (glue should remain elastic after drying, try to find special shoe glue);
 • Hole punch for leather;
 • Sewing kit and needle;
 • Leather lace.

Step-by-step instruction

 1. Remove the straps from the slippers and leave only the sole;
 2. If they are too big or wide, take a sandal that fits you and cut the right shape out of the sole;
 3. Lay the soles on a piece of leather in the main color and cut out the pieces of leather according to the shape of the soles;
 4. Cut off pieces of leather about 8 by 20 cm, this will be the top of your shoes. The exact size of the fabric will depend on the size and width of your foot, so it's best to cut a slightly larger piece and try it on;
 5. Cut holes on the sides of the soles (the width of the top), insert the top into the holes. Position the part at an angle so that the hole on the side of the fingers is smaller, glue the parts together;
 6. Now cut out strips of leather, 2 cm wide and repeat the previous steps. Position the strips at an angle, taking into account that the heel will hook on your heel;
 7. Glue the finished spare part to the sole of the slipper;
 8. Take a leather hole punch and make two rows of holes in the middle at the top. Pass a strong thread through the holes and pull off (you can skip this step if you don't like how it looks);
 9. Now make two holes on the back of the strap and pass the leather cord through them;
 10. Make sure it's long enough for you to fit comfortably into your sandals. The lace ties at the back and tightens to fit. Your sandals are ready!
