Wrap the middle of the accordion with a narrow strip of leather, bringing the ends of the strip to the wrong side. From the wrong side, cut off the excess from the strip and sew the edges. The result is a curved part of the top of the sandal, which, thanks to the curvature, will perfectly wrap around the child's leg.

Making a strap for the back

Now it's time to work on the strap that will hold the back of the foot, preventing the shoe from flying off it. To do this, cut out four strips of leather and cut off a piece from a wide elastic band. We place the end of the elastic band between two strips of leather and sew with two seams for reliability. We do the same with the other ends of the elastic. Remember to make sure that the right side of the leather is on the outside on both sides of the strap.

We sew the strap and attach it in place

Sew the straps around the entire perimeter. Now the crucial moment has come - it is necessary to correctly place the straps, especially those that will clasp the leg over the heel. If it is tight to the foot, then the shoes may cause discomfort to your child. If it is weak, then children's sandals created by their own hands will fly off.

Sew the details

Place your daughter's foot on the sole of future sandals and attach both straps to it. Mark the desired length of the strap and cut off the excess. Do not forget to make marks on the wide strap where the wraparound strap will be sewn. Spread the seams at these points and sew on the strap. Now place the strap on top of the sole. To correctly determine the junction of the sole with the belt, try the sandals on the girl again. Connect all the details and sew on a sewing machine at the very edge of the sole. Trim off the strap so that they end strictly on the edge of the sole.

Now we will process the outer edges of the sole, for this we cut out an oblique strip from the skin with a width that will allow us to fold it in half lengthwise. Fold the strip in half, put it on the edge of the sole, covering the raw edges. Stitch this strip, grabbing the bottom of the piping. To ensure that the bias leather trim lays down neatly, pull it slightly with even force. Trim off the excess so that the ends of the bias tape, cut at an angle, overlap the beginning by a few inches.
