Do-it-yourself mini houses made of papier mache. How to make a papier-mâché cat house. Best Papier Mache Ideas

How many different ideas and creative solutions exist in our lives. You can do everything with your own hands: from furniture to curtains on the windows.

Decorative elements that can be made independently with the help of improvised materials are gaining great popularity. Today we will tell you about do-it-yourself papier-mâché crafts.

First, let's learn a little more about the technique itself and its background. "Papier mache" means "chewed paper" in French. Of course, this type of craft appeared there in France.

Papier mache resembles modeling, but very unusual, which is carried out without plasticine or clay. The whole essence of the technique lies in the fact that the elements are formed from loose paper.

The original purpose of papier mache was slightly different from the current one. Previously, using this technique, craftsmen made dolls. To date, the range of use has expanded significantly.

Various teaching aids, masks, dummies, caskets, and various household items are made from papier mache. Some craftsmen make lamps, furniture elements that look completely indistinguishable from real ones.

To make papier mache, you need the following materials:

  • . Newspapers.
  • . Water container.
  • . Homemade paste made from flour or starch. Carpenter's glue or PVA is also suitable.
  • . Sandpaper.
  • . Primer, emulsion paint.
  • . Scissors.
  • . Cardboard.
  • . Watercolors or gouache.
  • . Colored paper.
  • . Stationery knife.
  • . Plasticine.
  • . Natural material for decoration.
  • . Buttons.
  • . Threads, wire.

Papier mache is characterized by three manufacturing techniques.

One of the methods is characterized by the production of so-called liquid paper. The principle of making a homogeneous mass is as follows: small pieces of paper are poured with hot water.

The solution should stand overnight in a warm place. Next, the paper is boiled, squeezed out of moisture, loosened. After the solution is dried, the last step is to mix the mass with chalk.

Glue is added to the resulting mixture to acquire a thick consistency. Glue can be made by hand using starch. Also in the work used wood glue. The solution is ready for use.

The most common papier-mâché method is to stick small pieces of paper in multiple layers. First you need to prepare the form that needs to be processed.

Next, paper is taken, which must first be wetted before being applied to the desired surface. For a lasting effect, you need to apply more than 100 layers. The basis is the usual PVA glue or starch paste.

The third way to make crafts is by gluing hard plates of thick cardboard. The piece needs to be primed. After the product is painted and dried.

Banks, plates, wires, vases, balloons and other items are used as the basis for the form. Figures can also be sculpted like sculpture.

What to do for a papier mache house?

There are many options for decorating an apartment. You can make papier mache out of papier mache that will decorate the space and will pleasantly delight both the owners and their guests.

Fruit on the form. Let's start with the pear.

  • 1. First of all, it is necessary to fashion a pear shape from plasticine.
  • 2. Next, coat the resulting fruit with glue and apply pre-prepared pieces of paper. For a good and reliable effect, make this work in 6-7 layers and let the glue dry.
  • 3. Carefully cut the pear in half and remove the plasticine from the resulting paper mold.
  • 4. Next, you need to glue the fruit and apply another layer of paper. The result obtained is primed with paint and allowed to dry.
  • 5. At the end, glue a paper leaf to the pear itself. And ready to please your eyes.

A paper pineapple will perfectly fit into the fruit collection. Its manufacture is not as complicated as it might seem at first.

  • 1. For work, we need a bank that will serve as a frame. A layer of paper is applied to the surface, which are moistened with water. Next, apply about 4 layers of glue to the jar.
  • 2. After complete drying, cut the paper in half and connect the future pineapple into one. Next, the product is primed, the so-called scales are glued to the surface.
  • 3. Pineapple is dried and painted with a brush.
  • 4. A green stem with leaves is glued to the tip. The fruit is ready! Now a real still life will appear on your table.

A lot more can come up with the imagination of a creative person. Experiment, try and find new ones from papier mache. Handmade will always pleasantly surprise others and yourself. Such elements will make your life more interesting and brighter.

Mass of papier-mâché.

We will use this mass for rough work, creating the basis for future products (dolls). It turns out that the best binder for this Mass is the usual flour (you can add starch) paste!
I conducted a lot of experiments and I ask you to take my word for it - there is nothing better than a paste.
You can generally remain silent about accessibility - there is always a spoonful of flour of any quality.
If you knead the mass on a paste (and not on glues), it dries more easily and impregnates the cellulose more easily - the mass becomes more homogeneous and dries faster. Given the thickness of the dried layer, this is an important factor.
The second and only filler component will be cellulose.
We will get it from the most ordinary toilet paper. Of course, you can just soak toilet paper in a paste and sculpt papier-mâché out of it. But it's very inconvenient. Firstly, although the paper exfoliates well in ordinary water, it is much worse in a paste. Because of this, it can be unevenly impregnated and will shrink unevenly when dried. Excess moisture also interferes with work - the mass will be too soft and wet.
It is much more convenient to have stocks of chopped dry fibers with you, which can always be kneaded by adding glue.
erased any density and as much as needed.

Here we will deal with the preparation of such cereals

1. Place the toilet paper rolls in a suitable saucepan, fill with water and put on fire.

2. Stirring occasionally, we help turn the paper into a homogeneous slurry.

3. When there are no lumps left, drain the gruel into a colander. It’s not worth waiting until it cools down - it’s easier to slowly rinse under running cold water, and at the same time cool the gruel. Don’t try to rinse everything at once. Do it in batches.
4. After washing, put the resulting mass into a suitable container. Wait until all the water drains is not worth it - this will not happen in the foreseeable future;). Here's what should happen:

5. Next, carefully squeeze the water out of this mass with our hands.

6. After squeezing the water, it is necessary to crush the resulting pieces. We simply break the squeezed mass into small pieces with our hands.

This is necessary in order to put them in a kitchen chopper.
I bought the cheapest chopper on sale - power (the price depends on it) does not play a special role.
7. Well, in fact, we grind these pieces.

We spread the resulting grains on a spread newspaper and dry for future use.
If the mass of papier-mâché is needed now, then the grains at this stage are quite dehydrated, although raw. You can add a little paste to it and knead the mass.
Note:
a) You need to grind the pressed, but not
dried mass. Else chopper
any power will not be able with it
cope (try to cut
book!).
b) In a paste for better strength
you can (but not necessarily) add
a little carpentry or casein
glue. Approximately 1:10. Worth no more.

This is very easy to do, although not quickly, but your pet will be comfortable in it and by the way, the house is low budget, you can get by with improvised materials, namely plain paper.

What you need to make a papier-mâché cat house with your own hands:
- a lot of newspapers or any other paper;
- PVA glue (you can also take wallpaper glue);
- bags / cling film;
- something to fill out the form;
- finishing material (I had fabric, paint and varnish)
- cardboard for making the bottom of the house

The most important thing in this undertaking is to measure a cat or a cat, so that later he (she) would be comfortable in this house, otherwise all your work will be in vain.

Then take some things, I have these bedspreads and a blanket, pack them in bags like this so that you get an oval shape and that it matches the size of the animal, or rather it was larger than itself, this will be the basis for the house.

By the way, you can make the shape not necessarily oval, suddenly you are a jack of all trades and build some more complex house, you can do anything from papier-mâché!
In general, I got such a loaf.

Long thought about tree seasons for our group, reviewed many options. I came up with the idea to do it with tree house.

To work in papier technique-mache we use egg cartons, water, PVA glue.

We tear the cardboard cassettes from under the eggs finely and fill them with water, leave for several hours, let them swell. Then grind with a blender. Squeeze out excess water, add a little PVA glue (or wallpaper paste). We have a great mass ready for any crafts.

The basis for the house was a cardboard tea box. The roof is corrugated cardboard, the pipe is a tightly twisted tube from a newspaper.

Then the longest process in creation: coating the whole house with the finished mass. After the first layer, let it dry, then apply a layer of mass again papier mache, adjusting the shape of the tile (you can make each tile separately, you can sculpt "ribbons" from the mass and make recesses in a stack, giving the appearance of a tile, we impose from the mass papier-mâché doors and windows, reaching the desired shape, we also made a stone foundation - pebbles from papier mache. We make a porch at the house, from which there is a path of "pebbles" (we make pebbles from crumpled pieces of napkin or from a mass papier mache).

After the last layer and drying, we glue the product with newspaper, napkins or toilet paper, dipping it in PVA glue diluted with water (we do this to level the surface of the product, you can do this in several layers, letting each dry. Then we prime the product, we usually do it with simple white gouache .

While the house dries properly, we do tree from a branch, smeared with mass papier mache. small house and wood install on the site, the future courtyard. In our case, the platform is oval, made of cardboard and smeared on both sides with a mass papier mache. After drying, we prime all products, we do it with white gouache.

The next stage of work is the most interesting, in our opinion, - coloring the product. It all depends on your desire and imagination. We were painting gouache: the house was covered in several layers with white gouache, the doors and window frames were painted brown, inside the window - yellow. The foundation stones and paths were painted black, but not thick, so that there was a worn effect. Wood painted brown, the lawn green.

Everything was covered with varnish, dried properly.

Now this composition lives in a corner of nature. Summer wood it was with green leaves, now - with yellow and apples. Very soon we will stick white snowflakes instead of leaves, we will make snowdrifts from cotton wool near the house. Closer to the New Year we will put a snowman (we will also make papier mache) .

This is what the house looks like from the other side.

Perhaps our experience will be useful to someone.

Everyone in the group has a corner of nature, but not in any group we can put an aquarium, as there are children in the group who have allergies.

Mustachioed - striped pets, cats and kitties adore all kinds of shelters for lying and cozy houses. That is why pet stores sell entire complexes of cat beds with walls and a roof.

But it’s not always worth shelling out for exotic cat beds, there is a very interesting solution to creating a cat house in almost any desired shape using the papier-mâché technique.

Papier-mache or torn paper has been known in needlework for a long time. Anyone can make this paper mix for modeling, the main thing is to stock up on a sufficient amount of paper. The way to create such a house is not fast, but not very complicated. And what opportunities open up for creation!

The above example will allow you to make a house in the form of a rounded hollow mound, and then, having understood the principle, you can design for a four-legged pet, even a castle, even an elf's hut.

Get ready for work:

  • several blankets;
  • food or construction film for wrapping, simple thin bags are also suitable;
  • scotch;
  • newspapers, thin paper;
  • a piece of thick cardboard for the bottom;
  • PVA glue;
  • brushes for glue and paint;
  • material for finishing the interior of the volume;
  • paint, varnish.

In order to get a hollow volume, we use blankets. We form a kind of pillow out of them, squeeze it very tightly and bandage it, thus obtaining the dimensions and outlines of the future cat's dwelling. On top of the blankets we wind food or construction film for wrapping and wrap it with tape.

We try to do everything in such a way as to get the most smooth and even surface, because this is how the interior of the house will look like. On one side of our rammed plaid pillow, with an indelible marker, draw the outlines of the inlet to the house.

In our case, newspapers or thin paper are used for papier-mâché. You can also use paper pulp for modeling, which is obtained by crushing paper and kneading it with glue.

We coat each sheet of the newspaper with PVA glue and straighten it on a blank of blankets. A newspaper with glue in several layers, over the entire surface of the “pillow”, except for the flat bottom and the painted entrance to the house. After sticking 3-4 layers, leave the product to dry for several hours.

In total, in order for the finished thing to turn out to be strong, it could not be deformed later, there should be 20 - 30 newspaper layers. After the paper is pasted, we leave the semi-finished product to dry for a day or more. The surface should "harden".

Then we raise the hemisphere, and take out the base from the blankets. If there are prominent corners of the paper, irregularities on the inner or outer surface, we grind them with sandpaper. Next, you need to make the interior design of the house, since after gluing the bottom, this will not be very convenient to do.

The walls and roof inside can be painted with acrylic paint, as shown in the photo, but you can do otherwise. Cut the cotton material into fragments and, using the same PVA, firmly glue it on the inside of the hemisphere and the cardboard bottom.

After another drying, we connect the house to the bottom. We apply a hemisphere to a piece of cardboard, draw around the contour. Then cut the bottom strictly along the line. With small fragments of newspapers and the same PVA, we glue the bottom with the top from the outside along the joint.

From the inside, additional fragments of fabric can also be glued along the joint. Allow the workpiece to dry thoroughly again. The use of textiles and PVA glue is a more convenient option, such a finish will not have a strong odor and will quickly become habitable for a cat.

The outer side can also be finished with fabric or painted and varnished. After the final drying, all that remains is to put a soft pillow inside the house and launch the tenant.

Using papier-mache technology, you can make unusual shapes of cat houses. For example, pasting a large bucket or plastic cylinder, you can get the shape of a tower.

If you paste over a large inflatable ball, not forgetting that you need to leave a flat bottom for stability, we get a spherical dwelling.

For those who have enough space in the house and want to use their creativity, there are futuristic ideas for a big cat house in the form of a big drop, a hut, a house for a gnome or something else interesting.
