What things does a child need for development. What to buy for a newborn baby list. What documents are needed for a newborn

The table of what a newborn needs in the first place is presented below:

Now let's take a closer look at how much and why each item is needed.

Clothes set

Choosing clothes for a newborn baby is one of the primary issues in preparing for his birth. There is a basic list of things that the baby will need, as well as additional things that are needed at certain times of the year.

The most needed furniture

Before the birth of the baby, in addition to clothing you should prepare a room for him and buy all the necessary furniture.

Useful items for walking

For a walk, you must definitely buy a stroller. They come in various types and shapes. For the first six months of a baby's life, a cradle is needed so that he is in a lying position. Also When buying a stroller, you should pay attention to the presence of additional things:

  • mosquito net;
  • raincoat;
  • a bag for Mother;
  • basket and so on.

These items are also important, but not essential.

You can buy a 2 in 1 stroller, then it will last longer. From 6 months, the baby can be carried in a stroller, when the baby will not sleep, but will look at everything around.

If the child likes to be constantly next to his mother in his arms, then you can purchase a sling. This is a tissue device that is used to carry a child in the first months of life and up to 2-3 years. It frees mother's hands for various tasks and allows you to travel with your child, go shopping, visit museums.

Gives the child the opportunity to look around. Convenient for breastfeeding. In a sling, you can feed your baby unnoticed by others. You can feed in a sling and do things at the same time.

Also, for transporting the baby in the car, for a walk or going to visit, you can purchase a car seat.

Bed sheets

From bed linen, you must definitely purchase:

  1. the mattress, it must be of medium hardness and must correspond to the size of the crib so that no gaps form;
  2. a sheet;
  3. a blanket (down, synthetic, flannelette, wool, depending on the time of year) or a blanket;
  4. duvet cover;
  5. bumpers to ensure the safety of the baby.

There is no need to buy a canopy, it is needed only for beauty (but at the same time it is an extra dust collector). Optionally, you can purchase oilcloth if the baby will not be in diapers all the time to prevent damage to the mattress. A newborn does not need a pillow.

Care and hygiene products

After the birth of the baby, care should be taken for him. Morning toilet is carried out 2 times a day, it requires:

  • cotton buds;
  • cotton pads;
  • wet wipes;
  • baby oil;
  • baby hypoallergenic soap;
  • sterile cotton;
  • manicure scissors;
  • diaper cream;
  • powder;
  • hair brush;
  • bathing herbs (string, chamomile, calendula);
  • diapers.

Power supplies

First, the mother should decide whether her baby will be breastfed, that is, breastfeeding or artificial.

If you are breastfeeding, then in the first six months of life, nothing is needed from the accessories. You may only need a bottle, if you want to supplement the baby with water.

Pacifiers allow the baby to satisfy his sucking reflex. But they are not mandatory. If on artificial feeding, then the necessary accessories are:

  1. Bottle (preferably glass, as it does not retain odors).
  2. A heater for heating mixtures, since it cannot be heated in a microwave.
  3. Sterilizer, if it is not possible, then you will need to sterilize the bottle in boiled water.
  4. Nipples - put on a bottle with a drink. The advantage of the pacifier is that the absorption of food or drink occurs in the most natural and safe way, since the sucking movements put the swallowing reflex on alert.

    The liquid should not flow out of it when the bottle is upside down. And when pressing on the expanding part of the nipple, the contents of the bottle begin to flow out in infrequent drops.

  5. Measuring spoon.

Items for development

Toys for a baby in the first months are an important source of new information. about the world, a tool for the development of consciousness and fine motor skills, which is directly related to the development of the baby's speech.

What other items do you need to buy?

Things that will be useful and may be needed, but are not required:

  • Humidifier, since it is important for a newborn that the air in the room in which he will be located is humidified.
  • night light necessary at night, as the child often needs to be swaddled, checked, fed, so as not to turn on the big light.
  • Slide projector, since closer to six months, children love to listen to fairy tales and stories. This device contributes to the development of children's speech, imagination, memory, and subsequently instills an interest in reading.

Every detail for babies from 6 to 12 months

  1. If the baby was breastfed, then from six months you need to buy a bottle, a plate, a spoon, since complementary foods are usually introduced from this time.
  2. You also need a high chair and a large bib, as the child begins to wield a spoon.
  3. Playpen, it creates a protective space for the crawling baby.
  4. Of the toys at this age, large plastic cubes, cups that can be placed one inside the other, buckets and molds for the sandbox, rubber bath toys, various toys that can be carried on a string, and the first books are suitable for the baby.
  5. A stroller is also needed, since the baby no longer constantly sleeps, but loves to look at everything around.
  6. Bathing seat. From about 7-9 months, when the baby sits confidently, the seat is securely attached to the adult bath with 4 suction cups. After bathing, the suction cups are easily detached using special tongues. Comfortable back supports the baby in a sitting position.

    The colorful hanging toys on the front of the seat make the bathing experience a play. With this seat, the mother does not need to fix the baby - her hands remain free, making it easy to wash the baby.

  7. A set of blocking devices. At about 6-7 months, the baby is already actively crawling, so it is very important to observe maximum safety while the baby plays in the open space, because even under the supervision of the mother, the child can accidentally harm himself. These can be door locks, cabinet door locks, protective inserts for sockets, a door slamming limiter and other useful devices.
  8. Jumpers and walkers are usually popular with active children, but they can be completely dispensed with.

In anticipation of a child, every expectant mother thinks about what things the baby will need in the hospital and in the first days after discharge. By making detailed lists of such things, you can spend your money more rationally and not be afraid to forget about something.

However, when you see huge lists of necessary things on the Internet or from familiar mothers, you should not immediately buy all the same.

Your list should be, first of all, individual. When compiling it, consider the following nuances:

  • The best time to make a list of things is called the second trimester. In the last weeks of gestation, a situation may arise when you have to buy everything in a hurry, which will have a bad effect on the mood of the expectant mother and on the family budget.
  • When choosing things for a baby, consider your financial condition, but do not save on quality. It is better to let things be few, but they will be safe and reliable.
  • Part of the upcoming purchases can be entrusted to relatives, because we accept gifts for newborns. There is no need to be shy, but it is better to immediately tell relatives and friends what things you need than to put the same suits and sets of rattles in the closet after childbirth, which the baby will not need.
  • When compiling the list, also consider things that you may inherit from family and friends. When children grow up, their old things are often handed over to young mothers, and this opportunity should not be neglected. Especially when it comes to such large purchases as a stroller, car seat, crib, changing table and others.
  • Be rational and add only the most necessary things to your list for a newborn. Do not buy in advance what you will need later and you will always have time to buy more.

Many mothers consider the process of buying things one of the most enjoyable processes.

Mandatory purchases for the birth of crumbs

All expectant mothers, after viewing other people's lists and recommendations, will have their own list, but almost all of them will include the following items:

  • Stroller;
  • Crib;
  • Mattress;
  • Bed sheets;
  • bath;
  • Car seat (if parents have a car).

Pay close attention to the choice of these things, focusing on quality and safety for a newborn baby.

For information on what to consider when choosing a mattress, see Dr. Komarovsky's program.

What to take for a child to the hospital?

For the duration of your stay in the hospital for the baby, you should take the following things:

  1. Clothing. The list of necessary clothes should be clarified at your maternity hospital, since in some medical institutions, children are dressed only in sterilized clothes that are given to mothers.
  2. Care products. Take diapers (the smallest ones), wet wipes, powder, cotton wool, baby soap and baby cream.
  3. Items for release. Your outfit may include a thin jumpsuit, socks, a hat, and an envelope.

It is worth clarifying the list of necessary things for discharge at the maternity hospital

Dream

Since in the first month of life, the baby sleeps most of the day, things that provide him with comfort during sleep are very important. Prepare for baby:

  • Crib. Let it be wooden and covered with a varnish (water-based) that is safe for the baby. A model with at least two bottom levels and drop sides is preferable.
  • Mattress. It should have sufficient rigidity and fully match the size of the crib (fit snugly against its walls). Spring mattresses are more suitable for babies, as their rigidity is higher.
  • Bumper. Such a soft device is placed around the perimeter of the crib and is designed to protect the baby from hitting the walls and drafts.
  • Bed sheets. Immediately prepare 2 sets for the baby, including a duvet cover and a sheet. However, sheets can be replaced with large diapers for the first time.
  • Blanket. In buying it, be guided by the season, as there are summer and winter, as well as demi-season options. Many modern mothers prefer buying a sleeping bag. It is also worth buying an additional quality small blanket.
  • Oilcloth. Some mothers buy an oilcloth with an elastic band and fit the mattress, while others are more comfortable using disposable diapers.
  • Nightlight. Although this thing cannot be called the most necessary, it is much more convenient to approach the baby at night and organize nightly feedings with it.
  • Mobile in bed. It can be electronic or mechanical and may have various additional functions, such as backlighting.

Some mothers additionally purchase a separate cradle for a newborn and use it until 3-4 months of age. You can also buy a canopy for the crib, but this thing is not considered important, so its use depends only on the wishes of the mother.

Food

Each expectant mother should tune in to breastfeeding a toddler after childbirth, so special nursing bras can be prepared for childbirth, although regular bras can be fine. Absorbent breast pads will not interfere either.

Do not rush to buy lactation-stimulating teas, many mothers do just fine without them. A breast pump, if you plan to leave your child for a while, can be purchased in advance.

However, even those who wish to breastfeed are advised to purchase one or two bottles, for example, to give the baby water in hot weather or to take expressed milk with you to the clinic.

If necessary, the expectant mother should purchase special containers for storing breast milk. Milk expressed in them can be stored in the refrigerator and frozen.

Also, many young mothers speak positively about buying a special pillow for feeding.

A special pillow can make it easier for the baby to feed, but this purchase is not at all necessary.

In addition to the mixture, a formula-fed peanut will need to be purchased:

  • 3-5 bottles
  • bottle nipples
  • measuring spoon
  • Sterilizer
  • funnel made of plastic
  • Heater and thermos
  • Brush and bottle cleaner

Bathing

Another important procedure for a newborn baby is bathing. You should prepare for the birth of the crumbs:

  • Bath. It is imperative to bathe the baby in it until the umbilical wound heals, and after that you can carry out water procedures in a regular bath. Accessories that hold the baby (slide, hammock) and free mother's hands can be attached to the bath.
  • Thermometer. Before lowering the little one into the water, it is imperative to measure its temperature.
  • Terry towel. Buy a large and soft towel. The product with a hood is very convenient.
  • Soft terry mitt for washing baby's delicate skin.

The first time bathing a child should be carried out in boiled water.

How the process of bathing a child should go, see the program of Dr. Komarovsky.

Walk

From the first days of life, depending on the weather, the newborn is recommended to be taken out into the fresh air. To walk with a baby, you need a stroller. Pay enough attention to its choice, not forgetting such nuances as the weight of the product, as well as the dimensions of your elevator. In a stroller, they usually buy a mattress, a bag, a rain cover, a cover, a net - such accessories are often sold along with the stroller.

Choosing a stroller is not the easiest thing to do. For information on what to look for when choosing a stroller, see Dr. Komarovsky's program.

Many pregnant women decide to purchase a sling for walking. This is a common alternative to a stroller, as well as an ergo backpack. Also, if desired, the expectant mother can purchase a bag for carrying the baby, with which you can go to the clinic or store.

Care

The delicate skin of a newborn baby needs special care. After discharge, your home should have:

  • Cotton discs.
  • Wet wipes for babies.
  • Baby soap.
  • Powder.
  • Baby oil.
  • Baby cream.
  • Cotton buds.
  • A diaper cream that helps with irritation.
  • Baby manicure set.
  • Comb.

clothing

When choosing things for a newborn baby, follow these recommendations:

  • Don't buy too many size 56s as newborns grow quite fast and many babies are born large.
  • Consider the time of year in which the baby was born. In the summer, you will need fewer clothes, and for a baby that will be born in winter, you need a lot more things.
  • It's a good idea to make a list of things you need and only buy half of what you need. Gradually, you will understand what clothes are more convenient to use, and buy the remaining wardrobe items.
  • Pay attention to the quality of the clothes. Many cheap things lose their shape and deteriorate after one or two washings.
  • Try not to buy things for a newborn that need to be worn over the head.
  • The best fasteners young mothers call buttons. Try to avoid things with buttons and ties.

Buy clothes for the crumbs from natural fabrics

For the first wardrobe of a newborn baby, it is enough to purchase:

  • 3-4 bodysuits with different sleeve lengths;
  • 3-4 warm undershirts plus as many thin ones (you can replace them with blouses with buttons);
  • 5 thin sliders and 2-3 pairs of warm ones (if the baby was born in a cold season, warm sliders are bought in larger quantities);
  • 1-2 warm slips and 2-3 thin ones;
  • 1 fleece jumpsuit;
  • 2 warm bonnets and 2-3 thin ones;
  • 1-2 pairs of warm and thin socks;
  • 2-3 terry cloth bibs;
  • 1 pair of anti-scratches;
  • 1 cap - demi-season or winter;
  • 1 jumpsuit for a walk - demi-season or winter.

Everything you need to buy for the birth of the baby (list): furniture, transport for the newborn, clothes, first aid kit and hygiene products.

The birth of a baby is a great happiness! But do not forget that in addition to positive bright emotions, the child also brings additional troubles. It is better to prepare in advance for the appearance of a baby in the house and purchase essentials in order to enjoy the first days of the life of a son or daughter, and not run around the shops.

Furniture

It is better to think over and organize the space in the house even before the baby arrives. If the living space allows, then you can equip a separate children's room. If this is not possible, then rearrange the home to accommodate everything necessary for the child. Furniture that is necessary for the life and full development of the child:

High chair (5-6 months), walker (8-9 months), playpen, mats and sun loungers (1 month)- these things will be needed in the first year of a child's life, but they are not necessary in the first days of staying at home. Their purchase can be postponed for several months, but you should not completely cross it off the list.

Transport for a child

The main transport for the child is a stroller, but this is far from the only necessary purchase.

Baby clothes

There are a lot of criteria for choosing clothes for a newborn. It’s good if you know the gender of the baby, but if your baby was hiding or you deliberately didn’t want to find out before birth, then it’s better to choose things in neutral colors, for example, green, yellow, purple.

The height and weight of the child, modern ultrasound machines can be measured in the womb, you can even find out the length of the baby's fingers, so you can rely on the reliability of the parameters. The results of such research can be taken as a basis for purchasing the necessary clothing. Most often, the growth of a newborn child is in the range of 52-56 cm, but it is worth remembering that these are average statistics.

When choosing clothes, you should also consider the time of year when the baby is born. Naturally, much more warm clothes are needed in winter than in spring or summer. It is important to choose things for the baby exclusively from natural fabrics, without the content of synthetic fibers.

Most parents prefer not to swaddle their babies, but there are those who think it's not quite right, so it's better to buy a few diapers. Even if they are not used for swaddling later, they are great for use as a bed sheet that you can put in a stroller or take with you to the hospital for a check-up of your baby. So, the first thing on the list would be diapers.

Before putting new clothes on a newborn, they must be washed and ironed well. The better to wash things for a newborn. All seams should be carefully checked so that they are not rough; for newborns, many manufacturers produce things where the seams are on the front side. Labels with information about the composition of the fabric, size, and so on, it is better to cut off so that they do not interfere or irritate the baby's skin.

First aid kit for a newborn

A first aid kit for a child should not be large if there are no medical indications and recommendations.

  • cotton wool, cotton pads
  • ear cotton swabs with limiter
  • hydrogen peroxide 3%
  • brilliant green
  • potassium permanganate
  • thermometer for water and air
  • baby thermometer
  • pipettes
  • bathing herbs (string, chamomile, celandine, and others)
  • diaper cream (Bepanthen)
  • cream that is used for diaper rash in a baby (Bepanten, Purelan, D-panthenol, Desitin or analogues)
  • remedies for flatulence and colic(dill water, Espumizan, Plantex or Sab Simplek, Bobotik, Baby Calm)
  • vent pipe
  • small heating pad
  • nasal aspirator in case of snot(the best in my opinion is Otrivin Baby with disposable nozzles)
  • Aquamaris or Aqualor
  • antipyretic remedy (syrups or suppositories Paracetamol (Efferalgan, Panadol, Cefekon) or Ibuprofen (Nurofen))
  • eye drops (vitabact, floxal, oftalmoferon or tobrex)
  • sorbents (polysorb, enterosgel)

The list of drugs can be expanded on the recommendation of a doctor after examining the child and identifying any deviations from the normal state.

Hygiene products

Caring for a baby requires a lot of effort and attention, as the skin is very delicate and requires careful monitoring of the condition. It is necessary to follow simple hygiene rules and react to the slightest redness or irritation on the skin immediately in order to neutralize the irritating factor and prevent the situation from aggravating. The list of things you need before the baby is born looks something like this:

  1. Diapers. Parents decide for themselves whether to use disposable or reusable diapers, but it is extremely difficult to do without them. Therefore, it is necessary to make a supply, however, it is worth remembering that the baby will grow rapidly in the first months of life and the size of the diaper should increase accordingly.
  2. Wet baby wipes. This is very practical, especially on the street while walking, when there is no quick access to warm water. Contain many harmful components, use often do not recommend! What are the best wet wipes to buy for a newborn.
  3. Disposable absorbent diapers on a diaper basis. During massage, dressing, air baths, you can use disposable diapers.
  4. Baby cream. It is recommended for babies almost from birth to do a light massage daily, it is better to do it without cosmetics. If you are planning to hire a professional massage therapist, they usually require a cream or oil. Normal baby cream is best. No moisturizing oils or powders needed! Many of them contain harmful components for the delicate skin of the baby.
  5. Cotton discs. They are easy and convenient to use for hygiene procedures, for example, washing in the first weeks of a baby's life.
  6. small scissors with rounded ends for cutting nails, preferably with a cap that protects the cutting part.
  7. Baby bath. It is better to postpone it for an older age and bathe the baby in clean water, periodically adding herbs. In the future, it can be either ordinary baby soap or liquid shampoo gels for bathing children. The main thing is that they do not dry the skin and do not cause an allergic reaction in the child, i.e. had a natural composition. For evening bathing, products with lavender and other herbs are well suited, they have a calming effect and it is easier for the child to fall asleep.
  8. Accessories for keeping bottles clean. First of all, this is a brush to thoroughly wash the bottle. Separate sponge for children's dishes.
  9. Sterilizer for bottles, nipples and pacifiers. If you have a modern steamer, it will do the job just fine.

Of course don't forget to buy bottles 1-2 for breastfed babies and 3-4 for artificial ones. I advise you to buy Avent or Dr brown "s. I bought both ordinary cheap ones and a couple of Avent ones, up to 7 months I used only one Avent Natural (we were breastfeeding) and there were no problems at all, and the bottle was sucked and breasts, and after 7 months The rest of the bottles are already in use.

Oh, how many worries fall on a couple who are preparing for the birth of a baby! Providing the baby with everything you need is one of the main things on the eve of childbirth. Firstborn mothers grab their heads, not knowing what to buy, in what quantity and what quality.

But don't panic. Even if there are no mothers with children in the immediate environment, it does not matter. In this case, not only future grandparents will come to the rescue, but also the Internet. A detailed list of things for a newborn, which will take into account all the needs of the baby - we will talk about this now.

Where can I get them???

Many women feel more comfortable knowing that they have prepared in advance everything that the unborn child may need. This need is especially strong in the last trimester - this condition has even been called the “nesting period” and has been playfully played up more than once in various films and TV shows. Of course, in films most often this moment is shown with humor, and therefore too exaggerated.

While in many ways the desire to prepare as much as possible comes from elementary prudence: a young mother understands that in the first months after the birth of a baby, she may not be up to shopping in search of missing children's things. Therefore, everything that may be needed should already be bought and at hand.

For those who already have at least one child, it is easier: for sure, many things from which the eldest grew up lie somewhere, and such moms and dads definitely have more experience. The presence of children with relatives and friends is also a good help, there is not always an urgent need to supply the baby with everything completely new.

Of course, things must be in good condition, clean. However, newborn babies grow so fast that they hardly have time to take out their entire wardrobe, and in the cradle they definitely don’t dance to the holes in the bottom until they are six months old. So things remain in good condition for the most part and often pass from one tiny owner to another. This applies even to clothing, and what can we say about strollers, cribs, bathtubs?

And therefore, the sources of the necessary things (and this is a normal practice, I remind you) can be the following:

  • the shops;
  • online stores;
  • stocks left over from their grown children;
  • things of grown children with relatives and friends;
  • used items that are often sold cheaply or even given away for free on Avito.ru.

So it remains only to create a list of necessary things for a newborn, based on which, you can better imagine what you really need to buy, and what you can do without.

A complete list of things for a newborn

The list of necessary things includes both clothes with textiles and care products, as well as larger items such as a crib, a stroller and related necessary items. Therefore, we break our list into groups.

Necessary clothes for the baby

If at first you can do without some things by adapting improvised items, then you can’t do without at least a minimum set of clothes for a crumb. And this kit has a fairly large number of shifts.

Important! The body of a newborn is not accustomed to restrain natural processes, so the baby walks big and small when he wants. This usually happens about 8-9 times a day. In addition, babies spit up excess food after feeding.

Therefore, there should always be a certain amount of clean, dry clothes in stock, in addition to those that are being washed or dried. From the personal experience of many mothers, it is best if available:

  • Cotton diapers - 8-10 pcs.
  • Warm flannel diapers - 4-6 pcs.
  • Cotton, light undershirts - 5-6 pcs.
  • Flannelette, warm undershirts - 5-6 pcs.
  • Warm blouses - 2-3 pcs.
  • Caps with seams outside or thin hats - 2-3 pcs.
  • Rompers - 6-7 pcs.
  • Booties or socks - 2-3 pairs. If the baby is "winter", then knitted from soft yarn, which are worn over the lungs - 1-2 pairs.
  • Gauze diapers (if you decide to use gauze) - 10-15 pcs.
  • Disposable diapers (for newborns) - 15-20 pcs.
  • Anti-scratches - special "mittens" that protect the baby from his nails - 1 pc.

Yes, it is advisable to get a washing machine in advance, which at first will be a real salvation for an already busy mother.

Furniture

Although a baby barely born is hardly half a meter in size, in general, he needs quite a lot of items for life and care. Therefore, first of all, this should be allocated a place in the house or apartment. Ideally, if there is a separate room for the baby, where it is clean and quiet, as well as enough space for everything you need.

Well, if there is no room, then you will need at least a corner where the crib will stand, and a place to store children's things. A changing table with drawers at the bottom is quite suitable for this.

However, there is no need to panic if you do not have time to prepare: in extreme cases, a place can be arranged after birth, at first a newborn baby does not need much at all. Not without reason, in some Western countries, a young mother immediately after the birth of a child receives from the state as a gift ... a box. A large box that can serve as a crib for the first month or two.

It is clear that a complete set of necessary things is attached to the box. Thus, some European countries, and in particular, Finland, Great Britain, France, managed to significantly reduce infant mortality - simply by providing a small and helpless baby with everything necessary, regardless of the social and financial situation of the parents.

So, from large-sized things, the crumbs will need:

  • a crib or other place to sleep (which after a maximum of 2-3 months will still have to be changed to a crib);
  • wardrobe or cabinet for things;
  • baby changing table;
  • stroller;
  • bathtub or stand for safe bathing of the baby.

Three of the above items are directly involved in very important daily events in the life of the crumbs:

  • bathing;
  • stroll.

The health and safety of the baby depends on the correct organization of each of these moments, and therefore special attention should be paid to the choice of a crib, bath and stroller.

How to choose the right bed

Baby cribs are now presented in stores quite widely. There are plastic, wooden and even metal products. The newborn still does not know how to roll over and even more so to get up, but this is not for long, after some 5-6 months the situation will change. And therefore, if a bed for a baby is chosen for several years, then it should be considered not only in terms of convenience for parents, but also to really assess the safety for the child. The main requirements are as follows:

  1. The crib should not have any sharp corners or protrusions that the child can hit, mechanisms where a finger can stick and surfaces that can hurt;
  2. The coating with which the details of the crib are processed must be safe, since the baby will first of all begin to try them “by the tooth”;
  3. The sides should not be solid, since such a design interferes with free ventilation. As a rule, they are made from rods of different thicknesses;
  4. The distance between the bars should be 7-8 cm - in this case, the baby will not be able to stick his head into them, as well as his arm or leg;
  5. the initially provided presence of two levels for the bottom will allow you to conveniently use the crib for both the baby and the little one 2-3 years old;
  6. one removable side will make it much easier for mom to take care of the baby and sleep at night, and will also serve when the grown-up little one can already use the crib on her own.

Usually cribs are sold already with a mattress in size. However, if for some reason it does not suit you, you can purchase a special mattress made from natural, hypoallergenic materials. The main thing to remember is that it must be fairly solid.

Let's talk about bed linen.

When the baby begins to roll over, soft pads can be placed in the crib to protect him from accidental and painful collision with the bars.

If parents are not constrained in their means and want to provide the baby with maximum comfort, then an alternative to a crib is a cradle: much smaller in size, with soft sides. As a rule, it has a mechanism that allows you to rock the baby and easily moves from place to place, as it is equipped with wheels.

Another alternative to a crib is a special bed with a separate place for the crumbs. Perfect for a mom who thinks co-sleeping is important. So the mother does not need to be afraid to crush the baby at night, and the baby will sleep peacefully, feeling the warmth of the most important person in his world next to him. In addition, there is no danger, as is the case with the crib, that it can move away and form a gap. However, such a child's place will last, like a cradle, no more than 2-3 months.

Safe bathing

Anyone who has ever done this procedure will understand how important it is to choose the right container for washing a baby. At first, several people take part in the exciting ritual - and not only because everyone wants to enjoy an unforgettable moment, but simply to help hold the baby.

It is very important to keep the baby clean - his health depends on it. Therefore, after the navel has healed, babies are advised to bathe once a day. In addition, almost all babies love to swim very much - after all, water in their mother's tummy was their permanent habitat. However, a regular bath is not suitable for a newborn. There are several reasons to use a special container designed only for him for the baby:

  • it is smaller, because it is easier to fill it with boiled water or a decoction of herbs in which a newborn is bathed in the first months of life;
  • it is easier to take care of it and keep it perfectly clean;
  • it is safer for the baby.

Baths for bathing babies are different. Tiny similarities of cast-iron baths can already be found only in museums, but plastic ones have long and firmly come into use. They are still widely used to this day. They also have different shapes: some are made with special protrusions so that the baby can be comfortably and safely put into the water. This will allow mom to safely wash it at any time without the involvement of additional helpers.

If the bath is just a container, you can often additionally purchase a special hammock for it, which is attached to the sides and allows you to put the baby, freeing your hands.

After a month or two, babies can already be bathed in ordinary water using special slides that are placed on the bottom of the bath and in which you can comfortably place the baby.

Important! No matter how convenient and safe a bathing device may seem, never, under any circumstances, leave a child in the water unattended even for a couple of minutes.

Recently, special inflatable circles for bathing babies are gaining popularity, which are designed to protect the baby from falling into the water, and by and large, to enable parents to leave the baby in the water without fear for his life. In addition, they are suitable for those kids who feel especially calm in the water, and therefore parents allow them to spend more time there than is necessary for normal washing.

For a walk armed

The third important moment in the life of the crumbs is a walk. Daily walks in the fresh air is also one of the factors of good health. Therefore, the stroller should not be chosen by color and appearance, but primarily based on its convenience and safety for the baby.

The abundance of models and options can often be puzzling:

  • cradle - used from birth to 6 months;
  • two in one - suitable for both very young and for kids who are already sitting;
  • three in one - it also has a removable seat that can be used as a car seat;
  • transformer;
  • walking.

Whatever time of year a child is born, the stroller should be well ventilated. The best option is if the product for summer walks has special meshes that allow air to circulate freely. It is desirable that the fabric is natural, since it is it that protects well from sunlight and does not overheat. As an autumn and winter option, you need to pay attention to models made of dense and water-repellent fabric.

Well, if the stroller will have a special valve to protect against rain, wind and snow.

These are the main criteria for evaluating a product for a baby. The remaining, no less important points, are important for the convenience of using the stroller by adults - after all, it is they who will have to carry it during a walk.

The first thing you should pay attention to is weight, since a stroller that is comfortable in all other respects, but too heavy for a young mother, most likely will not be used every day.

Important! When choosing a stroller, do not forget to add 5-6 kg to the weight of the product - approximately as much as a child will weigh up to six months.

Wheels are also important in a stroller. In order not to be locked with a stroller in a high-rise apartment, you should measure the width between the wheels - whether the chosen model will pass into your elevator and doorway.

Pay attention to the material from which the wheels are made. Plastic ones are suitable for a summer walk along good paths. Rubber wheels will allow you to walk through puddles in autumn and spring and along snowy paths in winter. Wheels with a swivel mechanism make it easier to turn while walking, you do not have to constantly raise the front of the stroller.

Accessories are also important: bags, nets, bottle holders. Quite often, a young mother uses the time of a walk for purchases that need to be put somewhere. And, of course, the ability to change a diaper, drink or even feed the baby will save the day during a longer trip.

A modern alternative to a stroller is a carrier or sling.

Perfect for sports parents leading an active lifestyle. In addition, scientists argue that the more time the baby spends directly feeling the closeness of the parent, the better it affects his mental health. Therefore, this method of carrying is even recommended for children born prematurely.

In addition, this increases mobility: where a mother with a stroller will go, only thinking ten times - underground transport, a shopping center with several floors - the happy owner of the sling will go without even thinking about this issue.

However, there are also disadvantages of such wearing crumbs:

  • not suitable for mommy after caesarean section or with spinal problems;
  • only suitable for walking light.

However, no one bothers to use both, depending on the situation.

Bed linen and textiles

The following items are all you need to comfortably use the crib, changing table and stroller.

  • Sheets in bed - 3-4 pcs.
  • Duvet covers - 2-3 pcs.
  • Oilcloths, large and small - 2 pcs.
  • Flannelette blanket - 1-2 pcs.
  • Warm blanket - 1 pc.
  • Light bedspread - 1-2 pcs.
  • An envelope for walking in a stroller or a blanket, depending on the season.

Baby care products

Since the skin of the crumbs is still very delicate, ordinary hygiene products are not suitable for him. Therefore, some manufacturers, such as Johnson's baby, specialize in the production of special children's cosmetics and care products. It does not include irritating and too aggressive substances, as well as chemicals that can cause an allergic reaction. Such, not just children's, namely, funds suitable for newborns must be purchased. They include:

  • powder;
  • cream;
  • oil;
  • bathing aid;
  • liquid and solid baby soap;
  • baby powder;
  • conditioner.

In addition, you will definitely need:

  • cotton buds;
  • gauze;
  • cotton balls;
  • baby wipes;
  • thermometer for water;
  • children's scissors.

All these items are necessary for the daily care of a newborn in order to safely bathe him, clean his nose, ears, cut his nails, wipe the folds on the skin. They are included in the list of necessary things for a newborn.

Separately, you should specify the medical supplies that will be included in the first-aid kit. Many mothers are frightened and do not even want to think that the baby may need medicines. Meanwhile, even elemental gases in the tummy, if a nursing mother eats something wrong, can deprive both the baby and his parents of normal sleep for almost a day. Therefore, it is better to have on hand:

  • physical nose care solution;
  • ointment Bepanten 5% for the treatment of diaper rash;
  • diaper cream;
  • medicinal herbs: chamomile, string - for bathing until the navel has healed;
  • a small enema or douche with a soft tip;
  • gas outlet tube;
  • body thermometer;
  • antiseptics - brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide, potassium permanganate, furatsilin.

All these items will come in handy if the baby is healthy, but is experiencing discomfort - after all, he can notify about this in only one way: by crying loudly.

Important! About what else you may need in the first aid kit for the crumbs, you should definitely ask the pediatrician - either in the maternity hospital or the district.

And that is not all. Particular attention should be paid to detergents and washing powders for crumbs - in no case should their wardrobe be washed along with the things of adult family members. For children's clothes, you will need special powders or liquid detergents.

It is the same with caring for the baby's place of residence: the crib, changing table, stroller should be wiped only with detergents that do not include aggressive chemicals. It is best to pay attention to the products of companies that specialize in environmentally friendly household chemicals.

What to take to the hospital?

It is most convenient to take pre-prepared things for the baby to the hospital. If the newborn will be in the ward with his mother, then he may need several sets of clothes. It is best to ask during a visit to the antenatal clinic or directly at the maternity hospital: there is probably a list of the first necessary things that are needed in this particular medical institution.

It is likely that they will not be needed, since a number of maternity hospitals give out their own - in this way, the perinatal center is guaranteed to ensure cleanliness and sterility for all newborns. If not, then you should prepare:

  • diapers are light, calico - 4-5 pcs.
  • diapers warm, flannelette - 4-5 pcs.
  • disposable diapers, 5-6 pcs.
  • light undershirts - 3 pcs.
  • warm undershirts - 3 pcs.
  • light caps - 2 pcs.
  • warm hats - 2 pcs.
  • bonnets (light and warm) - 2-4 pcs.
  • socks - 3-4 pairs;
  • sliders or bodysuits - optional, but if you really want to;
  • pacifier (if you plan to use it);
  • diapers for newborns;
  • liquid baby soap

Before packing underwear, they need to be washed and ironed.

Important! Wash things for newborns only with a product intended for the smallest! Any other washing powders or liquids are not suitable, as they may contain an unacceptable concentration of chemicals that are dangerous for the baby's delicate skin.

Of course, the set also depends on the season: if the birth of a child falls on the hottest days in the summer, then fewer warm clothes are needed. But still needed, just in case.

Often, mothers are worried about whether to take baby care products with them. Although in most cases this is taken care of in the maternity hospital, but for your own peace of mind, it is better to have a package of cream and powder for the newborn on hand, in case the nurse is not around.

As you can see, the list of things in the maternity hospital is not so great, but it includes the most essential items for the baby. The same list is the minimum set of things for newborns for the first time.

Separately, for discharge, you should prepare outer seasonal clothing. If the child was born in autumn, winter or spring, then you need to bring a warm blouse, hat and overalls. And also what to wrap it over clothes: it can be a special envelope or a warm blanket.

Disputes about envelopes have been going on for a long time: is there any point in buying an elegant, but later useless item. And manufacturers have found a suitable solution: often the envelope is easily transformed into a blanket, which can be used to cover the baby in a stroller. This is especially true for children who were born in autumn or winter: then in this envelope they will be able to snore peacefully during walks: securely fixed edges will not knock out and get lumpy. But everything else is a matter of taste and capabilities of the young parents themselves.

And, of course, do not forget a beautiful ribbon - pink or blue - which is customary to tie up a swaddled baby - if it is not provided on the envelope.

If you have a car in which you plan to pick up from the hospital, and subsequently regularly carry the baby, then you should immediately buy a car seat - in addition to being more convenient than holding a baby wrapped in a blanket in your arms, it will also ensure the safety of the child in the first and other subsequent travels. If the trip home is planned by taxi, then it is worth specifying the presence of a car seat in the passenger compartment when ordering.

When to buy things for a newborn

And one more topical question: when to shop? A popular belief, which is often remembered by mothers and grandmothers, is that it is impossible to buy children's things in advance. Is it worth it to listen?

Let's remember that today's medicine is significantly different from what it was a couple of decades ago. Now doctors have learned to nurse even very premature babies born much ahead of schedule - starting from the 23rd week. This means that infant mortality has decreased significantly. Therefore, fears that something will go wrong have much less reason to come true.

Of course, no one removed responsibility from my mother for her health and lifestyle. However, if a woman takes care of herself, is physically active and tolerates pregnancy well, then most often she has no reason to worry about the life of her unborn baby. Therefore, it is worth preparing for his long-awaited appearance.

Now the last couple of months before birth are considered the best time to buy things that the baby needs.

Important! Repairs in a house or a room for a newborn should be carried out without the participation of a pregnant mother, since chemical fumes from building and dyeing substances can cause poisoning for both her and the fetus.

Do not rush and be afraid not to be in time. Buy baby clothes with all the love you feel for a new family member. Use a positive attitude to let the baby feel in your tummy, how great it will be when he is born, how much wonderful things await him in this life, how his mother dreams of hugging him, playing with him, looking into his eyes. After all, love and faith, as you know, work wonders.

Indeed, purchases should not be postponed "for later", since a lot needs to be foreseen.

For the first six months

First of all, you need to think about arranging a bed for the baby.

The canopy for the crib looks very nice, but its functionality is highly questionable. When the baby grows up a little and starts to get on all fours, and then get up, the canopy will have to be removed so that the child does not knock it over. But the soft "boards" tied around the perimeter of the crib will certainly come in handy - they protect the newborn from drafts, and a little later - from hitting the bars when crawling. To equip a bed, you will need a mattress pad, a blanket, one flat pillow, three sets of bed linen.

The second major purchase is a stroller.

In the first six months, you will need a baby bath. While the child is still small, he has to be supported when bathing, so immediately using a large bath will be tiring for your back. Later, the baby will learn to sit, and you can bathe him in a large tub.

You can buy a changing table or adapt a regular dining or writing table to a comfortable height, and attach a shelf above it.

clothing

During the first month, the main clothes of the baby will be cotton and flannel undershirts (6 pieces of the first size and 8-10 pieces of the third), as well as diapers (10-20 pieces) and diapers (20-40 pieces), diapers. In addition, you need to purchase at least four sliders (immediately buy the third size) and the same number of flannelette blouses, fastened in front with buttons, or bodysuits.

Of the clothes, you still need to purchase a pair of caps of the first and a pair of the third size, a complete woolen set for walking: a jacket, a hat, pants, socks and mittens. It is more practical to buy a walking set or knit it right away in the third or fourth size. In addition, it is convenient for walking and an envelope.

care items

For water and complementary foods you need: 2-3 bottles with nipples, a pacifier.

For hygiene procedures: scissors with rounded tips, comb, gas tube and small syringe, cotton wool, paper napkins, ear sticks, baby oil (or sterilized sunflower), baby cream, powder.

For bathing: water thermometer, shampoo, baby soap, large bath towel, hooded diaper.

For games: various mobiles (metal, paper, wood, leather strips swaying in the air), rattles and grasping rings.

Anything that a child can take into their mouth should be made of wood or plastic that does not contain harmful substances.

next six months

You will need:

  • high chair and table - it should be stable and easy to clean;
  • a large bib - the child begins to wield a spoon;
  • arena - it creates a protective space for a crawling baby;
  • of toys at this age, large plastic cubes, cups that can be placed one inside the other, buckets and sandbox molds, rubber bath toys, various toys that can be carried on a string, the first books are suitable for the baby;
  • The first boots should be so soft that they can be bent in any direction. It is necessary that they be a centimeter longer than the child's foot, but fit perfectly in width. It is too early to put on leather shoes;
  • jumpers and walkers are usually popular with active children, but they can be completely dispensed with. But really indispensable for parents leading an active lifestyle is the "kangaroo". This is a convenient backpack for carrying children, which, taking into account the age of the baby, has a different design, can be used up to two years and even longer. At the same time, it can be hung both on the stomach and on the back, and the mother’s hands remain free.

So we made a dowry for the baby of the first year of life. True, this is only the basis that loving and sensitive parents will complement and adjust to their baby.
