(Sunstroke because they were without headgear

Once upon a time there were Eyes - Eyes, Eyes, Eyes ... While they were young, they shot to the sides, and cried crocodile tears, and stared, and rolled onto their foreheads, and crawled out of their sockets ... They did a lot of things. And with old age, eyes began to see worse. Therefore, they decided to go for an eye examination to a master, or rather an ophthalmologist.

The specialist looked at the eyes from the outside, then looked inside, then applied all sorts of pieces of glass and said:

Dear Eyes, you need glasses, otherwise you will be completely blind.

Eyes were frightened: how can they be blind?

But since you, Little Eyes, are beautiful, I advise you to get high-quality glasses - for a special pull. They won't be cheap, but they will serve forever, - said the eye-seller and pulled out two glasses from the drawer. – These are lenses, German, natural, made according to the latest technology. They don't scratch, they don't break, they don't sweat, they don't sink, they don't burn. Only for you, Little Eyes.

Eyes happy:

Expensive, but I'll take it. Close it please.

So you will not wear glasses without a rim. Therefore, only for you, Little Eyes, I can offer a gold frame, the highest standard, and platinum trim along the edges, and a diamond insert. Wear glasses, and they will sparkle so that everyone will think that it is you, charming Eyes, sparkling. Expensive, but valuable metal, so it does not rust. Eternal!

Eyes thought, thought, and agreed.

And what about without a case? the eye-seller asked. – A case for such glasses needs a special one, made in Italy. From Versace or Gucci. Inside the case, the lining is suede, matching your color, Eyes.

Okay, I'll take a case. Eyes answered.

But the eye master continued:

And you can’t wipe glasses with napkins - you need to use a special liquid, and napkins made from imported flannel. It is necessary to wipe three times a day, clockwise, from the center to the periphery.

Eyes sighed, counting the whole amount in their mind, but didn’t they deserve such purchases for so many years of working life? They agreed to special water and flannel napkins.

I will put everything in a beautiful handbag for you, and you will pay me a large round sum, from which you will also become rounder. - said the specialist, and having received the money, he gave the bag with the contents to the Eyes.

Although Eyes liked the glasses, they had to work harder to make up for their expenses. Once in a supermarket someone's hurrying Shoulders pushed his Eyes, glasses fell on the concrete floor and broke. The glasses did not have time to raise the Eyes - the hurrying Feet also stepped on the frame, and the end of the glasses came. Eyes wept bitterly, but they saw what they were buying and knew what they were buying for. So the little eyes go around in simple cheap glasses and so far they have not complained about blindness.

There was once no disease in the world. People died either from old age, or from an enemy scimitar, or because of some kind of accident: well, let's say, the horses get scared, they overturn the cart into a deep ditch, or the village bull stab someone with its horns.

There lived at that time in the same city two old maids. They could not get married in time, because they were very poor. And they became poor because of their laziness and gluttony. One fine day, frightened by starvation, one sister said to the other:

Come on, sister, let's turn into a fever. Let's go to make people feverish and again we will eat tasty and full. After all, when a person becomes ill and goes to bed, his relatives prepare the best dishes for him, bring all kinds of drinks, sweets - if only he would feel better.

Good! agreed the other. “Just tell me what kind of fevers there are, otherwise I don’t know?”

When a tired person drinks cold water, eats unripe plums or other greens, eats a piece of spoiled meat, we will get right into his heart and start shaking him: in the most unbearable heat, we will breathe on him with such cold that his tooth will not fall between his teeth. , and in the most severe frost we will throw him into such heat that he will be covered with perspiration, as in a bath. He will suffer from a fever, and we will live like a king. Well, follow me! As soon as we go out into the street, we will attack the first people we meet.

No sooner said than done! They sat down on a bench by the gate and waited. After a while, two people appeared in the street: one of them was a rich merchant, the other a poor miller. Lazybones crept up to them and quietly made their way into their hearts: the first - to the merchant, the second - to the miller. They began to shake them. Truck-truck! - chatters his teeth first. Truck, truck, truck! - echoes another. Teeth chattering and coughing, they barely made it home.

Immediately in the rich man’s house everyone ran in, fussed, spread a soft mattress for him, clean sheets, put a down pillow under his head, covered him with a silk blanket; They began to ask him what to give him a drink to keep him warm.

The merchant's relatives and friends found out that he had fallen ill and came to visit him. One gives him an eggplant with strong plum brandy, the other - three-year-old red wine, the third - homemade pork sausage, the fourth - a pie made from flour sifted through a silk sieve, the fifth - jam, golden apples and all kinds of sweets. Everyone brought the best of what he had - after all, no one wanted to lose face in the dirt. And he had many relatives and friends who revered and respected the merchant for the sake of his wealth. Seeing how the poor fellow trembled and clicked his teeth, everyone was very sorry for him - after all, none of them had yet seen how the fever was shaking. During his illness, relatives and friends gave the merchant so many gifts - even open a grocery store.

And the fever looked at the delicious treats and licked its lips. Shake, shake the patient, and then leave him alone for a while - he gives him a respite. And as soon as he stopped shivering, he felt relieved and became so insatiable that everyone around was amazed at where all this food and drink fit. And this is the fever that sat in it, ate and drank everything. Whatever she wishes, everything is brought to her. The damned fever eats, drinks, and sleeps, but the rich only have a swollen stomach, so much so that he is too lazy to get up. Because the lazy-fever tends to sleep, she is now even more lazy than before, when she was not yet a fever, because then she did not have to eat and drink so tasty, and she did not even dream of such soft mattresses.

And the hostess, know for yourself, pushes her sick husband aside and says:

Wake up, master, wake up! I brought some water for you to wash your face. Get up, walk around the yard a little, get some fresh air, maybe you will feel better! You've been lying down, hubby, it will soon be three years. You sleep day and night, eat more than all of us, but nothing suits you for the future. Only the stomach was swollen like a barrel, and the neck was stretched out like a pole.

Oh, dear little wife, - the patient barely said, - what a blind man does not want to see the light! I would like to get up and walk around, only this damned disease has drugged me - everything tends to sleep. And as soon as I get enough sleep, the damned one again grabs me by the scruff of the neck and shakes me like a dog offal. And when she gets tired of it and leaves me alone, I feel such hunger, as if an insatiable snake wound up inside me, and I eat, I eat, but the more I eat, the harder it becomes for me, drowsiness overcomes me, and I forget and already I don't remember who I am or where I am. That's why, little wife, I can't even get out of bed.

What are we to do, hubby, how can we put you on your feet? We called three hundred doctors, but no one helped you. Let me look for some wise witch, maybe she can help you.

Look, wifey! Call fortune-tellers, soothsayers, healers, dervishes, priests! Call everyone, just heal me.

A woman gathered and went to one poor old woman, a famous healer. I told her about the suffering of my husband and brought her to her home. The old woman looked at the patient, asked him what hurts, what he eats and drinks, and then said:

I undertake to help you, if only you will obey me and do everything that I say. And most importantly - you have to be patient!

Oh, grandmother, - the sick man groaned, - I will endure everything, I will obey and do everything you say, just save me from this suffering.

Don't worry son! If you obey me, I will put you on your feet in three days,” the old woman said and left.

Returning home, the old woman picked a bunch of wormwood from the wattle fence, cooked a decoction and took it to the patient. She gave him a full glass of broth to drink on an empty stomach. The sick man's eyes almost popped out of the bitter drug.

Oh dear grandma! he groaned. - What kind of potion is this?

Don't be afraid, son, be patient! - answered the old woman. - This fever that has stuck into your heart will not let you go as long as you eat only sweet and tasty. You have to eat bitter and tasteless things to drive it away. And stop basking in a soft bed, lie down better on a bare matting, put a stone under your head and take nothing in your mouth for two more days, except for my decoction, and you will see how this damned fever will run away from you.

The patient listened to her: for three days he did not eat anything, he only drank wormwood and water. On the fourth day, the old woman came to visit him. The patient lay on a mat in the yard in the very sun and slept soundly.

The old woman approached him so quietly that he did not even wake up, took a bucket of water that stood nearby, and doused the patient. The merchant jumped to his feet cheerfully, as in the old days.

Oh grandma! he shouted. - Why did you frighten me, doused me with cold water?

And the fever was even more frightened than the merchant, jumped out of him and climbed up to the old woman.

“Wait a minute, you old hag,” thought the fever, “here I will shock you for depriving me of peace and contentment. Until now, I have lived like a queen. Didn’t the devil really think of you to keep me hungry for three days and drink this bitterness, from which I went rancid for life, and even poured cold water on me?

The rich merchant immediately recovered and cheered up.

I wish you, grandmother, many years! - he said and generously endowed her.

The old woman hid the money and went home, but on the way she suddenly felt that she was beginning to shiver. She barely dragged her old bones home. She lay down on the earthen floor by the hearth, writhed, trembled with chills, snapped the two remaining teeth in front, rose with difficulty, and drank a large cup of wormwood-water; I rested a little and drank another cup.

The fever understood that the old woman would pour cup after cup of this bitterness and would not lie down in a soft bed. She got angry and ran to look for some rich man.

But now, as soon as the fever got attached to someone, they immediately called the old healer, who became famous throughout the city. She gave the patient to drink wormwood-water and drove away the disease. The fever could no longer live like a king, as it lived for three years in a row with a sick merchant.

Convinced that the old woman would not leave her alone, she decided to move to another place where people did not yet know how to get rid of her. Fever set in. She left the city and sees: her sister, the second fever, is walking ahead. And she, too, decided to run away from these places.

Good day, sister, shouted the fever.

Wait for me, let's go together! They greeted each other, hugged, began to tell each other about their life.

The first one told how freely she lived with a rich merchant, about all her troubles and hardships, which the healer called on her, told, and then asked her sister how she lived with the miller and in other places.

Don't ask, sister! she began to complain. - I'm not lucky. I began to make the miller feverish, and he went to the mill, took a wooden mortar, crushed garlic in it, poured it with bite and drank all this vodka in one breath. Almost poisoned me, so he was empty! Not only that, when I threw him into the heat, he undressed and flopped into the ice dam. I was completely numb, I would have been a skiff if I hadn't run away. I left him and went to a rich woman. For three years I had a fever, I ate and drank plenty of delicious food. But there is no more life for us in this city: out of nowhere - a damned healer appeared, everything is on my heels. As soon as I live somewhere happily ever after, they immediately call her. Instead of tasty food, she gives me a bitter potion to drink, which has poisoned my whole life. I could not stand it and decided to run away from the city.

And I, little sister, am running from this accursed old woman. I will go wherever my eyes look, where such witches are not found.

You know, sister, what can I tell you?

Since you and I have decided to run away from the city, then we should not part: we will catch someone and we will be in a fever together. Let's just pick someone richer to live for our own pleasure until we get bored.

Your truth, little sister, - the first lazy person agreed, - it’s bad to live with a poor man: you freeze him with cold, and he grabs an ax - only chips fly in all directions, and he knows for himself, he cuts tirelessly until his sweat breaks out, and even I feel really bad then.

And when you throw the poor man into the heat, - the second interrupted her, - he will flounder into the icy water, like my miller, and you will die from the cold.

Oh, sister, I wanted to tell you something else ...

Tell me, tell me what your smart little head came up with!

Let's live for a while the way we lived, - the first clever girl suggested, - and then we'll take it, let's get married, have children and teach them our craft. They will be fine, but let people suffer for themselves.

Well done, sister! May God grant you health and joy. Only may the Lord keep us from bitter wormwood and icy water.

With such thoughts, two scoundrels went to another city, where people did not yet know the fever. While they learned how to drive her away, a lot of time passed and the sisters feasted well. And then they found two fools and married them to themselves. The sisters gave birth to a bunch of children - both girls and boys, and all sorts of diseases spread from them all over the earth. These diseases were very different, just as people are different: from some they threw into the cold, from others - into the heat; some had a fever every day, others every other day or two; from some people fell ill with jaundice, from others they coughed. and many, many other sufferings they brought to people. Male diseases are rabies, scurvy, heart disease. How they will become attached to someone - or soon they will send him to the other world or quickly leave him, because men are very impatient. And from diseases of the feminine kind, people did not die soon and infrequently, because a woman cannot overcome a man, but when such a disease clings, she keeps it in her power for a long time, and the unfortunate person lives for himself for years, neither healthy nor sick.

This is how illnesses went through people and torment them to this day.
